Hello All,

Well, we just recieved or second letter of denial for SSI for Zayne

This has all been such a bac and forth effort. Has any one else been

through it the same way? Now we are going to court. I do not

undestand why the medical staff board with SI says that Zaynes

disability will not go beyond 12 months, Zayne is legally deaf.

Hmmmmm I just wish this was all over with them. I feel like quiting

the appeals, but I also feel like I need to do it for Zayne's sake.

We have all the medical necessary proof for our defense, but SSi

seems to over look the facts. o now when we go to court we are taking

our ECI therapist, AI Teacher, our Audiologist, and who ever else we

should bring.

Oh Zayne is now almost 8 mo. old and is sittng alone and is crawling

and is trying to pull up. He also got his first tooth last week! The

AI teacher has started Zayne in the 2-4 mo. range for Sign language.

Oh almost forgot, Zayne also finally got to be on baby food, since

his sick spell(hospital stay, some of you may remember)Hopefully

Zayne will get to go back on enfamil Formula, instead of

Alimentum...that stuff stinks, Yuk Well I hope everyone is well, I

sure did wish we could have made it t New York, but we did not have

the funds to atted, maybe next time uh?

Thanks, and replys on this matter with SSI is greatly appreciated

Hi - have you ever looked into the Children's Special Health

Care Needs program? There is a similar program in my state and

microtia and related issues are definitely covered. The program

works by covering any costs that your primary health insurance does

not cover as long as you have preapproval through the program. I

believe it is Medicaid related but it is just for children and you

pay a co-pay based on your family size and income (or you might not

have to pay a co-pay if you qualify). Anyway, I found a web site

with a program overview and thought it might be worth checking out:

Good Luck!

Christi (mom of 4 yrs./unilateral microtia)

Hi ,

Sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble with SSI. I think someone

else had mentioned if there was the possibility of a specific children's

program for your state. We have one in Michigan and it works wonderfully

well. Where are you from again?

So glad to hear Zayne is doing better and growing well.

Many blessings to you all! Love, beth
