Guest guest
Alice, It just occured to me that I may be misunderstanding what is meant by a " case manager " . What I was thinking was meant was the ones which are provided by the insurance companies to sort of be your advocate -- and help to push insurance issues through. (The one I had was really not all that helpful) Are there actually privately hired case managers to help you sort through all the problems involved in dealing with dozens of specialists at a time? (one's that aren't associated with insurers?) Maggie > Hi Debra, > > I just wanted to thank you for a great post. It helps us to see the other side of the coin. I'm sure that long days with many patients, each dealing with different diseases can be exhausting to the mind, body and the spirit. We present more difficulties because of the complexities of the disease. Yes - a case manager is very important for all of us who can get one. I certainly appreciate mine. > > Thank you so much for this excellent advice. > > Alice > >
Guest guest
Maggie, The case manager is an employee of the insurance company but if you had one that wasn't helpful, you can request another one. I can't say enough about the two case managers I've had... one in RI and now one here in NM. Alice
Guest guest
Maggie My case manager is from a private company who is hired by my health insurance. Her salary is based the type of job she does for me, so there is incentive to do a good job. She calls me and I can call her at any time (I have her office, cell and home phone numbers). It is so nice to have someone do the leg work and apply some clout when needed. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Sat, 02 Oct 2004 00:55:22 -0000 > To: > Subject: Re: GREAT advice!!
