Breast Milk Vs Formula Question

Kathleen's weight gain problem with her baby made me wonder something. Formula and BM have the same amount of calories ounce per ounce so why are formula babies overweight? or rather why do they say to give formula if moms making enough milk? I see no caloric benefit. Am I missing something?
