Guest guest
We never grew up! LOL! I can see a (63, 67 & ) 69 Riviera in my mind...... alter it for me so I can " see " it. I've always loved tiny cars. I THOUGHT I'd get an MG Midget, but my parents had some feedback. Ouch. Kinda loud, actually. LOL! Then I wanted a Corvair (we're talking 1967 here). But my dad said I couldn't " park that thing in HIS driveway " , which was odd for a Chevy man. So, I became a VW person, lock stock & barrel. A bugaholic, for almost 40 yrs! Still have a soft spot for them in my heart, but I had to let go. My house was covered with bugabilia--you cannot imagine. I had every rare thing, went to all the shows, wrote articles for VW mags. WE DID VOLKSWAGENS. Anyway, mountains of stories. But our finances bit the dust about the time I really HAD to have a car with heat & upholstery and Don wouldn't let me keep all of them. I thought that was pretty unfair. 2 yrs later, we COULD kept them all. But too late, my love was gone. I placed her in a VW home, though. They brought over their 2 custom VW's and introduced her to them before taking her home. Ahhhhhhh. My dream car was Jag XKE. I finally drove on in 1975 (it was 68). I'm telling you, it was an orgasmic experience. And though I temporarily had the money to buy it (but not insure or run it), I figured I'd never survive taking it out on the fwy or up into the local mtns. So, I put it back on the lot and slapped some sense into my young & foolish self. And bought the TR 6 instead. That pretty much cured me of British cars. Cute, in perfect shape. It looked great sitting there with its tonneua cover half the year (in CA). And sit it did, cuz it ALWAYS had carburetor issues. LOL! Guest guest
Blush-thanks . I have a good traveling companion who makes where ever we are lots of fun. Except when he expects me to read a map in a strange city where they are driving on the wrong side of the street. Guest guest
You had a 67 GTO conv at your disposal? Oh my, oh my. I liked 67's ok, they just squared them off a teensy bit & I like smooth, roundy shapes. My ex had a 67 Corvette when I met him. About the time we realized we'd never be able to keep it in real life, it was stolen. It wasn't a real sports car, by my standards, but it certainly had muscle, 427 L88, brand new motor. This was 68, and it'd been traded in, but had a cracked block, so dealer put a brandy new motor in it. Scares me to think of that much power under my 19 y/o foot. LOL! Guest guest
We do that sometimes but mainly this guy likes to be in control of the car! I cannot read a map and it has led to some funny (in retrospect) fights..Once we were on an island in Hawaii. And it only had one road. He asked me to give him directions to the hotel! I asked him how hard could it be, just stay on this road and eventually we'll pass it. After all, how can you get lost on an small island with one road? It ended up with me pitching the map out the window!
