Guest guest
Hi and , I'm sure the original poster meant to be helpful by sharing this information, but I know that I am very skeptical about this diagnosis of bone bruising, from what sounds like just looking at her head. Also it sounds like the bands were finished quite a while ago. I have never heard of bone bruising as a result of banding. I also don't want others to be scared off by this. The FDA approval is to make sure that banding is both safe and effective. I don't know anything about IMT (this post is the first I've heard of it), but I must say I am very comfortable with our decision to band my dd last year. She did great in her band. -christine sydney 18 mo starband grad > > : > > I know I just posted on this, but the reason I did is exactly for the questions you pose. New parents on this board are looking for answers, and many of them are very confused about what direction to take. Whether or not a molding device can cause bone bruising is really something that only an experienced doctor and/or the orthotic company needs to address, however, in my brief research about a " bone bruise " I have found it usually occurs because of major trauma, and lasts for about 2-4 months. It goes away in time, though if it is on a joint, there is a potential for arthritis later in life. I am not a doctor, and I am only going by the medical sites that I visited about this issue. > > If long term effects of cranial molding were bone bruising, I doubt that any orthotic company could have gotten FDA approval to manufacture and sell molding devices. > > MRIs are usually used to diagnose a bone bruise, as well. > > Articles about bone bruising > http://www.iol.ie/~rcsiorth/journal/volume4/issue2/bone.htm > > http://www.ehow.com/how_2039053_treat-bone-bruise.html > > http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/imagepages/19649.htm > > http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/bone-bruise/AN01447 > > > > > >------- Original Message ------- > >From : lka_236[mailto:lka_236@...] > >Sent : 7/8/2007 8:57:52 PM > >To : Plagiocephaly > >Cc : > >Subject : RE: Re: Just discovered some info I wish I had known 4 years ago... > > > >So, for new parents out there, would you recommend banding still? > We banded our son from 7.5-9.5 months.
