Guest guest
From Lois Jervis loislane@... Hi everyone, I have something stuck in my band, I think it's some sliced ham and it's killing me. I have been in pain since 2.30am this morning and it's now 11.30am. I was a little sick but I couldn't bring it up only saliva. Any suggestions? I can't get in touch with my doctor. I can still drink fluids. Lois from Brisbane, Australia
Guest guest
OOOOOhhhhh...Lois, I feel for you!!! Have you tried eating something soft, like yoghurt, or something cooling like icecream? Maybe that would push it down. I feel really bad for you, I know how awful that must feel!!! Hope something works for you!!! Let us know how your doing. T. Guest guest
From Lois Jervis loislane@... Hi, Thanks Terri for responding to my plea. I tried the yoghurt but it hasn't helped. I still feel a little sick and the pain won't go away. It's not acute just very uncomfortable. Kim, your words of encouragement helped too. I contacted the hospital where I had my op and they contacted my surgeon who says if I get worse to ring them back, otherwise I'm to contact him on Monday. He suggested I stay with the soft foods for now. I don't feel comfortable lying down or sitting up so I hope this feeling passes. It's been 14 hours and although I don't feel as bad as I did at first, I don't feel that good either. Lois from Brisbane, Australia

Lois, this is probably a stupid question but did you try vomiting ?? Maybe a couple of good retches will dislodge it. I have never had anything that seriously stuck but I have had a couple of things temporarily stuck and it is very unpleasant. I would maybe try to drink things that are not milky as milk will increase the mucus, could you bear something fizzy or maybe something like still lemonade. Gook luck let us know. Guest guest
I'm with . I find if I jump up and down, or, (heaven forbid) go for a little jog, or, just archbackwards and take a big breath, whatever it is always drops through. Hope you dislodge it soon. It is the most horrible feeling isn't it. Steph. ________________________________________________________________________________ CAUTION - This message is intended for the addressee named above. Guest guest
Debby, I have been having trouble with bread too. One thing I have just found he will eat is to lightly toast a GFCF waffle (Trader Joe's or Kings has them) and cut carefully through the center making two slices. Then I spread a little Spectrum organic coconut oil and some almond butter to make a sandwich. It tastes yum and the oil keeps the waffle from hardening. Guest guest
Debby Many parents just give up bread, at least for a while because it really can be a tough issue. I send my son to school often with chicken. I make chicken with Kinnikinnck (the Canadian company) crispy coating mix and the chix is yummy! You can make the chicken look like nuggets, or fingers and your child can look like he's eating " normal " food. Guest guest
Debby, The gfcf bread is a real challenge. My son wouldn't eat any of the gfcf crackers either so they were out too. We finally eliminated it for a month or so and then reintroduced the EnerG tapioca bread. It has a much better consistency than the rice and my guy likes it!!! Guest guest
I was told by a friend that Vicks shouldn't be used on a child under 2 because it suppresses the nervous system like cough medicine. I have used it before on a one year old but I won't again. On an infant I have used a cool mist vaporizer, saline drops (1 tsp salt per cup of boiled water) and I love Infant Tylenol Cold, it really clears their nose up so they can sleep and nurse. Michele My 6 m.o.DD Holly has her first cold. She sounds congested, and is very cranky. Is there anything I can do for her??? Could I use vicks vapo rub (cherry for kids) ??????Wanda mom to

Guest guest
I have to say I love this stuff! It is called 's Vapor Bath. I would put it in our big tub and close the shower doors. I took Blake in with me. He loved taking a bath with mommy, and with the shower doors shut the vapors stayed in the tub area batter and really helps clear his nose. I also used Infant's Tylenol Cold. I works great. There's one with and one without cough medicine. I hope you little one feels better soon.Tina Mommy to Blake born 4-2-00visit Blake's web site at http://www.growthspurts.com/view.asp?s=20969 Don't they have some stuff for infants for the bath or something? Guest guest
I was told by a friend that Vicks shouldn't be used on a child under 2 because it suppresses the nervous system like cough medicine. We have some Vicks vapor cream that's for babies 6mos and older I think. It's much milder and I have used it a few times when Drake has been especially congested. Also, I like the Vicks Vapor Bath stuff--I've even used it and it does help to loosen all the mucus..... (I've got like 160 emails to get through so maybe someone has already posted this info....sorry if it's a repeat!) Guest guest
Lyndy, Sorry to hear of your woes of the last couple of days. I have had the same problem with fills a number of times and soemtimes it was just a matter of swelling after a fill which calmed down after a few days and sometimes I would have to have a little fluid taken out. If you are managing some fluids you will be able to get through the weekend until you can see the doctor again. I was in PNG when my problems occurred and sometimes it would be a week before I could see the doc, once I went 11 days without fluid. So long as ypou are managing some fluid you will be okay until Monday. Hope fully by then the swelling may have calmed down and you will be able to take more in, I certainly hope so. I often had swelling problems after a fill and often it would calm down after a few days. If it doesn't you will have to see the doc.
