Hi ,

I see that his left side looks fuller than the right, but it doesn't

look bad to me - especially since he is so young. The last pic looks

mostly like it was taken when you were slightly to the right instead

of directly behind him - so it looks asymmetric. I'm assuming its the

camera angle - but not sure. I would think if you can keep him off the

back/right he should be okay.

In some ways it was probably easier with your first son because you

didn't worry about all this. However I think the pics you took are

great and I would try and get the same shots in two weeks and see what

is changing.

Hey -

You're right, I think Grant's head does look almost perfectly round

from the top angle (as we discussed in your previous posts), but I do

see something going on there from the back. It does not seem bad

though and I think you're totally on the ball with the whole thing,

and should be able to work it out with repo. So keep it up! Just keep

taking photos and keep us posted on his progress.

Thanks and . I called the NP at my ped.'s office to

get more ideas what to do. But then I also mentioned that Eli has

been having a gross nose and cough. She said to bring Eli in. So I

did, and I asked about Grant's headshape. Fortunately (I guess),

the doctor could see exactly what I was talking about and agrees

that it is very subtle. He said that with tummy time and making

Grant look left during the day that in a month or so it should be un-

noticeable. I sure hope he's right. As for the last picture, I

think you are right that we weren't directly behind him so maybe

I'll retake that shot and post a picture from the back.

Thanks again.

PS: I do think you are right that with my first I had no worries

about mis-shappen head/plagio as I had never heard of it. But then

with Grant, I've been scrutinizing his head since day 1 and trying

to be diligent in doing all the things they say to do to prevent

plagio. Maybe that is why they don't " overwhelm " parents with the

concept of plagio in the hospital discharge stuff. Although, I

still wish they did provide info about plagio.

Hi,

Your baby head-shape look very similar to my daughter when she is a

baby. It might be because the way we hold the baby; like breastfeed,

or play etc... That is the case with my daughter. I like to let her

feed on my left-side, so that I have my right hand free. Which cause

the 'curve' on her right side, as compare to her left side. My mother

ask me to try BF equally on both side, and hold her most of the time

with my right hand for bonding. It corrected itself within a few

weeks. This is just what happen to us.

Hi Peishan,

Do you have pictures posted of your daughter? Did you have to band

or were you able to correct with repo? How old was your daughter

when first diagnosed? Since my 22 month old had plagio, I have been

looking since day 1 with my 2nd (7 1/2 weeks) at his headshape.

I've been very conscious to watch how I hold him, how he lays, that

I give tummy time, etc. Hopefully, with really focusing on getting

Grant to look left when awake I can " correct " the bit of mis-

shappeness going on.

Interestingly, in the 19 week ultrasounds of my 2 boys they were

laying in opposite directions. AND their flattening is/was (as 22

month olds is corrected..>DOC band) on opposite sides. It kind of

makes me think that positioning in utero aided in the flattening

especially since I have been on top of repoing type things since day

1 with my 7 1/2 week old.

Anyways, thanks for everyones input.

Hi again -

I just thought of something else if you haven't already tried it.

You should have Grant's carseat on the left/driver's side of the car

so that he is encouraged to look to his left to look (as he faces

backwards) at his big brother in his carseat as you drive around

town. That was one of the things our PT suggested for helping with

my son's tort and plagio, so I just thought I'd throw that in there

in case you haven't tried it.

Hi ,

I just post 2 pictures of my daughter. (we did not took lots of photo

to chart her progress either) She is 3 year old now. She is a tummy

sleeper.

At that time, we are ignorant of plagio, tort... Since her head-shape

is mild, our ped also did not mention about that. We just notice the

different, and try to find what cause that; then correct it by common

sense. It seem better after a few weeks. She did not wore any band.

And her head-shape is very normal, no asymmetry(2mm).

Hi ,

Thanks for the tip. I've thought of that one too. Before Grant was

born we played around with where to have the carseat to give us the

most leg room. His seat is actually on the right but I've been

thinking that for a few months of the driver being squished it would

be worth switching the two seats if it works to get him to look

left. Thanks again.
