This is where I would not pinch pennies but get a quality bed with a good motor and a great warranty. Be sure to try it out and take your time! I also got one of those mattresses that is not quite viscose but that stuff you sink into a bit but is firm. For someone with a gerd problem and who knows what else, the adjustable bed is a must. i think they are tax deductible, too, with doctor's note. It's not a craftmatic or anything. Actually the bed frame and workings were not too expensive but we had to buy a replacement mattress for it recently and that little bugger was expensive, $280. This bed size is like a big twin. The workings (electric motors) have lasted a long time, over 10 years and still going strong. Don't get the mattress that has a plastic casing, even if you pad the heck out it you still sweat and it creaks when you move.
