Guest guest Posted September 24, 2004 Report Share Posted September 24, 2004 Barbara, I am allergic to compazine (strange, I know), but the only thing we found to work after my surgery was Tigan suppositories. I only had to use them once. I guess Tigan is no longer recommended for kids due to concerns of Reye's syndrome, but that is the only thing that did the trick for me. The GI people were scratching their heads trying to think of something we had not tried for nausea, but they never mentioned this one. I will tuck it into my memory for future reference (where it hopefully won't get lost!) Too bad you had such a terrible reaction to Fentanyl. What sort of allergic reaction do you get to compazine? Hives? It took a while to convince the docs that my heart arhythmias were due to compazine, but we did a challenge while I was on a heart monitor to prove it. My oldest son would continue to vomit if he did so once (usually from phlegm from asthma). We had to keep Tigan suppositories on hand to stop the vomiting. It worked every time. I'm guessing it is not commonly used because it was an early med. for this and there are so many new ones.
