He has bilateral Atresia. You might want to bring some gum with you. During take off and landing, chewing it helps " pop " your ears. But this applies to all children, not just children with Atresia. However, in the last two weeks you have had 13 bounced messages. This is when Yahoo tried to send you e-mails, but they failed for some reason. Usually it is a problem with your e-mail server, usually temporary. If you keep having troubles, you may want to try subscribing using a different e-mail address from a different provider. Guest guest
I have several goals. I'd really like to weigh around 220 again 8-). (I know that must sound hard to believe to some women here who are just so happy to leave 220 behind, or those women who are thanking Providence that they never got all the way up to 220, but ... we all gotta do what we all gotta do ;-) Then I'd like to reach 180 and the mid 160s for a little while. These were three weights I spent some time on, on my way up the scale. I think I'd like to be there for a little while to come to terms with my life travels. Ultimately I'd like to check out 145 or perhaps less. I guess 138 is my official "goal", but I kinda can't imagine I'll ever get there, and it doesn't really feel personal yet, if you know what I mean. I think I passed 145 as a fat 13 or 14 year old, didn't really notice it, and then spent 8 or 10 years between 160 - 172. -Elissa Re: (unknown) Elissa, thanks for the response and congratulations on the great success youhave had. If you don't mind my asking..how much do you have to lose? Ithink keeping in touch will be great. Keep me informed of your weeklylosses as well. We will do this together :)Trina
Guest guest
Ooh! You have a wardrobe! *envy* ;-) -Elissa Re: (unknown) I think it's good to have small goals elissa, doesn'tseem so overwhelming that way.I do small goals even though I don't have as much tolose....right now I'm just looking for 150...(coursethen I'll have to change my points....)....but that'smy first goal...then 145, 140 etc....With each 5-10 pounds I find something in my 'old'warddrobe to wear again...so it's fun to wear it a fewtime before leaving it behind! Guest guest
I can't speak for everyone, but I think most people here are pretty new to WW, and looking for support on the way down the scales. I'd imagine most maintainers are not on a support group (although they could be). As you're probably aware, diets have a high failure rate, of about 95%. This means that 95% of people don't maintain their loss after 2 years. However, I understand that weight watchers has a higher success rate than other programs. I don't know what percentage, but in large part, it's due to WW being a change in eating lifestyle, rather than a diet. Furthermore, speaking as someone who's put on a lot of weight over the past couple of decades, NOT dieting tends to have a very low success rate, too. ;-) Personally, I think that in order to change one's eating successfully, one must work on oneself and one's issues, and that in general will be outside of WW. Personal growth and healing isn't necessarily part of the program, although support is. The reasons one overate in the first place (for those who got heavy through overeating, rather than a number of medical reasons) should be addressed or one can fall back into those old patterns at some future point. Sorry this has become so long, but I wanted to add one more thing I've thought about. I'm aware I may fail, and lose weight only to gain it back, although I feel confident that I can do it successfully. However, for whatever length of time I am thinner, and even if I simply lose a small percentage and keep it off, I am that much healthier for having eaten right for the length of time that I do, and I am that much healthier for the time I remain smaller. What are your experiences, Stuart? -Elissa (unknown) have any of u kept weight off over 5 yrs

Guest guest
Those are very good goals, Stuart! I think getting my weight down and following the program with lots of vegetables and fruit will help me avoid or postpone getting these. My husband has diabetes. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen! You'll find a really great support group here! I'd like to ask a personal question, please forgive me if it's too intrusive. You said your goal was 25 pounds by Christmas. Actually, it's a very do-able goal, Christmas being 15 weeks away. But how would it be for you if you didn't lose quite that fast? Some people lose slower, and it's possible that you might lose only 15 (or 17 or 19 ot 20, etc....) WW (to me, at least) is often about eating well, eating healthy, and losing at a healthy rate, while learning new lifelong habits. Here's a challenge which I will present to you, in order to support you: Would you be willing to go along with the program even if you lose at a slower rate? Would you maintain eating well, and staying healthy even through the disappointments that can happen at slower weeks? (We all have slower weeks, weeks where the scales don't move because we retain water, or because we are building muscle - which is heavier than fat. Or just because of some inexplicable "Act of God" ;-) What I'm asking is a lot, since the habits of relying on the scale, of beating ourselves up when things aren't perfect, or of slipping back into unhealthy behavior, can be pretty strong habits to break! (Trust me, I've been there!) Here's to your health, Kathleen! 8-) -Elissa (unknown) NAME: LOCATION:(City and State only): OCCUPATION: MEMBER TYPE: MY INTEREST IN THIS GROUP: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A WW MEMBER: WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS:To lose 25 pounds by ChristmasFAVORITE 1 POINT SNACK: Fruit, Coffee w/Sugar free coffeemateFAVORITE 2 POINT SNACK: All Bran CerealFAVORITE 3 POINT SNACK: LatteOTHER INTERESTS: History, Law, School, Reading, MoviesMY WEB SITE: ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I need all the support that I can get!! Guest guest
Hi, , The formula is: points = (calories / 50) + (fat grams / 12) - (fiber grams / 5) You only count maximum of 4 of the fiber grams per serve, however, but the formula's useful if you are figuring out a cassarole with, say, 8 serves and 20 grams of fiber. -Elissa (unknown) Hello, i was just wondering if anyone knows the formula to calculate the points if any one knows plese tell me! Guest guest
Oh gee- i see this message got in after all. I typed another one because this one took a while to get to the list. Sorry about the duplicate. >From: "Rivky Kahan" >Reply-To: EverydayMiraclesAutism >To: EverydayMiraclesAutism >Subject: (unknown) >Date: Tue, 11 Nov 2003 19:16:02 -0500 > Send a QuickGreet with MSN Messenger. You may remember my posting a message about my son who is in first grade in a regular ed school, who we suspected may have some form of autism. Today we saw Dr Maltz who said that he does have autism. I told him that the school really needs help with him, and he strongly suggested our calling the Autism Society of Michigan. He said they would have all kinds of support- workshops- come down to the school-consult with the teachers etc. I did place a phone call to get the ball rolling, but now it occured to me i really have no experience at all with them. Anyone here have experience with autism society of Michigan in helping out with inclusion with NT kids? If so, please share your experience, and if there is a particular person there you liked, please tell us this person's name. Also if you know of anyone else to recommend that you like better than the A.S of Michigan, speak up as well. Any suggestions at all about helping out with a high functioning autistic kid be sucessful in an NT environment would be appreciated. rivky Is your computer infected with a virus?
