My Doc Appt.

I went to see my Pain doctor on Thursday last week at 3:30pm.....and he had set up another appointment at 5 pm for me to meet someone else after my appointment with him!

He just wouldn't tell me anything about the 2nd appointment.......which, had me very curious to say the least.

Well, come to find out, he wanted me to see a Represenative of a Company that makes a new kind of TENS Units that works a bit differently than the regular TENS units. I am the First person in Western Iowa/Eastern Iowa to Try this new type of TENS Unit! And, so far, I LOVE IT! I've called my Doctor 3 times so far (using my MIL's Cell phone) to let him know that they will have to pry this machine out my cold dead fingers to take it back from me if Iowa Medicaid won't pay for it! I'm hoping that they will though......I'll find out tomorrow when I call the lady to find out. She said that since it's so new, as in being a different kind of TENS Unit, that she doubts that they'll pay for it as State Medicaid in ANY State hates to accept anything new, whether it's treatments, medications or machines. But, I'm hoping!

Between having the injections in my lower back and this TENS Unit.....my lower back pain has gone from a solid 9 down to a 4 in 2 days flat! I've been using it mainly on my lower back.....but yesterday I used it on my right leg (where the RSD started), and it kept the pain down to a 8 all day instead of letting it spike up to the 9.5 it usually spikes up to by 2pm. The only problem I had was around my knee cap, because it was letting me know that it was going to start SNOWING last night! (luckily it was just flurries that melted as soon as it hit the ground)

As they explained it to me, this TENS Unit was made just for us with RSD.....They are trying to make the TENS Units more like an SCS without having them Implanted. I'm hoping that this make sense here.......but, the Impulses and stuff in this TENS Unit is the exact same as the SCS that what those of you that have them are....just, in a little hand held version that I just clip on my waist band, stick the little electrodes on my back, leg or arms (can't stick them on a bone though) and they work the exact same without the surgery!

As you can tell, I love this little machine!!!

Hope everyone else is having good days!
