But, the day before we are using the free space offered to us by the Arc doesn't seem like the best time to be criticizing this organization for not being free. Perhaps this could have waited till Friday? Or perhaps this information about SPAN could have been conveyed without criticizing the Arc? I just don't understand your timing. And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't SPAN and the Arc connected? Barb << I get free legal advice from SPAN and from the NJ Advocates office. SPAN offers such a valuable service. It is available if you have questions and want direction. The NJ Advocates office also went to court with me when Jen was 3. (They wanted to see regress before offering us a summer program.) They sent me to an expert for testing and represented me free of charge. They still do this depending on the issue you have. I think it's worth a try before deciding to hire someone to pay. Even at the " low " rate of $40 an hour it adds up. (I only make $12 an hour.-guess I'm in the wrong business) I didn't start to find out about the services I was entitled to until was 5 and then I found out from another Mom. I still continue to find out more. I would like to see others get the help they need without having to pay. If I had known more about what I was entitled to when Jen was small she would probably be much better today. Co-options Coordinator-Bergen, Hudson, Passaic Counties-north NJ - Mosaic meets the 2nd Thursday morning (Paramus Park Food Court) and the 3rd Wednesday evening (The Arc in Hackensack) of every month.
