Worried about whether helmet is making head worse?

Hi,

My DS has been in his helmet for 12 weeks now. He was diagnosed with

severe brachy, slight plagio and tort. The tort has been corrected

due to physical therapy and lots of exercises at home.

We went with a smaller company so cannot say docband or starband and

dont know how to attach photos to show you what I mean but Im

getting concerned as he has been in it for 12 weeks now and the

ortho thinks there is probably only about 4-6 weeks worth of growth

left in the helmet. (DS has a big head!)

He started off with a cephalic index of 103 % and is down to 93.5%

but his head still has a big flat area off to the right back side.

His head has rounded off from the squareness it had originally but

it has also developed a sort of raised bump on the top. I posted

about the bump before and went to see the ortho who said it was

completely normal and that it was just the shape of DS's head.

Okay...that could be possible but Im not completely satisfied with

that answer. We have an appt with the neurosurgeon in two weeks but

thats half way into the time he has left!

Upon looking closely at the helmet tonight it looks to me like it

resembles the shape of DS's head and seems to be more fuller/rounder

at the back left side and flatter on the back right side, where he

seems to be retaining that flatness.

Okay...so heres my question (after a long winded intro...) does your

helmet/docband/starband resemble your childs head shape as it stands

or does it look like a perfect head on the outside?

His head seems to me to be the growing to be the same odd shape with

a little rounding out and Im wondering whether the helmet is causing

this.

Do you think I should go for a consult to a cranial tech ortho? See

what they say..they can either agree or put my mind at rest..both of

which I would be able to then act upon.

Thanks and Im sorry for it to be so long. Any thoughts would be

appreciated.

DS...just 11 months.
