Welcome Tanja to our group! My name is son, I've been a part of

this wonderful group for 5-6 months now, maybe a little longer. But it's

atruely wonderful, loving and caring group. I am a Nurse, but I just don't

know what to suggest for your chronic pain. Maybe there's others in the

group that could help with this. Some medications work for some others

don't. It's a kind of trial and error type thing to find which works for you

the best.Talk to your Dr. too and maybe suggest a pain specialist for an

evaluation.

Once again, Welcome!

Sincerely, S.

Hi Tanja --

Welcome to the group!! My name is Patti and I have Vascular EDS and have been

a member for about 6 months now.

As others have already told you, this is a fantastic group - the people here are

more than willing to help wherever they can. It doesn't look like I'll make the

conference this year either (gonna miss out on the tattoo-ing -- I've always

wanted one!!!), but if there is anything I can do for you, just let me know (on

or off list).

Take care and I hope you are well.

Patti

SHE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THIS WAY. IT WAS WORSE WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER. I HAVE SOME

THEORIES THOUGH. I THINK BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T HEAR, SHE DOESN'T FEEL LIKE SHE

IS A PART OF THE WORLD OUTSIDE HERSELF. SORT OF LIKE INFANTS, IF THEY DON'T

SEE YOU YOU ARE NOT THERE ANYMORE. I THINK DEAF PEOPLE VIEW THEIR OWN WORLD

THAT WAY. IF THEY THINK IT, IT IS.

SO I THINK WHEN I GIVE HER RULES OR TRY TO CHANGE SOMETHING IN " HER WORLD "

SHE REACTS INSTINCTIVELY BY YELLING OR HITTING THINGS.

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS MAKES SENSE TO YOU OR NOT, BUT I HAVE A FRIEND WHOSE

MOM IS DEAF AND I SEE THE SIMILARITIES EVEN THOUGH SHE IS A SIXTY YEAR OLD

WOMAN. THEY SEEM TO REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THEY HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE

WAY THEY BEHAVE OR THE ACTIONS THEY TAKE.

Has Kate ALWAYS been this way? My 5 yr. old daughter has quite a temper.

Some have suggested that the tiring process of trying to understand people

all day can leave one very irritable. I kind of feel like my daughter was

just born with her personality hardwired in her, since she has been kind of

" mean " and willful since birth pretty much. But I'm open to any theories

and suggestions.

Yes, mine is 13 and will be 14 in Aug. She goes to a deaf school in

Pittsburgh. I am trying to call her, so I will try to post

tomorrow. Once she shoved ME! in Kohls!

But, she hans't always been like this. I think the age has something

to do with it. I started her on talking to her counselor at school

and I noticed that it really helps.
