If anyone doesn't want to hear my whining and complaining, just hit the delete

button

right now.

Thank you, Pepper, but now he isn't doing so fine. My world is just not going

very

well right now. My husband overdid it the first few days after surgery and is

now

paying the price. The surgery went well, though. He is a typical man and thinks

nothing can hurt him. He's invincible. Right? Wrong! He is stunned. Absolutely

stunned that he hasn't bounced back to completely normal. He's far from being

back

to normal. He is in more pain and sorer than he should be at this point and

can't

stand, walk very far or stay out of bed very long. That absolutely shocks him.

Well,

duh! Right????? No signs of infection, though. That's good. I'm still driving

him

everywhere he goes, so he's lost some of his independence and that bothers him.

He is scheduled to have the other leg done on the 23rd of this month. That's

just 2

weeks away. We may have to postpone it if he's not over this one by then.

Then his mother is still very sick. We took her to the doctor today for her

post-

hospitalization visit and there really isn't anything more the doctor can do for

her

outside of some really drastic measures that no one wants, not even the doctor.

She's 98. I don't think she'll last much longer. It bothers dh to see his mother

like this.

That's normal to feel that way, though. I feel sorry for him having to watch her

like

this.

I don't want to think about how we'll have to handle funeral arrangements and

travel

with his legs like they are and him in so much pain. We'll go back to Arkansas

for the

funeral. I know we shouldn't worry, but somebody has to think about these

things.

Plan for them. I haven't asked the doctor if he can fly like this. It was

surgery on his

veins and I don't want any blood clots! Ok, enough worrying about that.

I went to church tonight while dh stayed home. That is a real shock to everyone

in the

family because he is there everytime the doors are open. Our dauther and

son-in-law

and their kids went to church also. The 6 year old was playing in the gym after

it was

over and fell flat on the side of her face. She now has a really angry red

crescent

abrasion around her left eye that will turn into a real shiner and the left side

of her

upper and lower lips are swollen. After she got home she realized she had lost a

tooth in the fall. Lost it or swallowed it!

On the bright side...I put on a blouse today and saw that I have " under-grown "

it and

need to give it away. :)

Thanks for listening.

Kathleen, Don't think of it as "whining and complaining" ... think of it as a way for you to relieve some of the stress. There's really nothing anyone can do to help anything you're going through ... but sometimes just being able to let it out helps. Please know that there are lots of people praying for you, your husband, his mother and now the granddaughter. Seems like sometimes it's just too much but, remember, God doesn't give us more than we can bear. And right now He must feel like you're a very strong person ... Hang in there and know that you're cared about. ((Hugs)) Jeanette P.S. Sounds like your husband and mine (and probably lots more) are just alike. They think they should be able to have any kind of surgery and within 2 days be back doing anything and everything they could before. Kathleen

Thank you! It is hard to see the glass is half-full all the time. I was seeing mine as pretty much half-empty last night. I'm adjusting my head as I type. :)

I heard an addition to that just the other day, some people are just happy to have a glass.

Hey, Kathleen - - - we all need a place to "vent" our frustrations, and this is a good place to do it!! And we all (except maybe & Eloy) understand about hard headed men and their invincible (they think) macho images!! Men seem to go from one extreme of being "invincible" to being complete "babies" if they have something wrong! Maybe you could appeal to his "helpless" side and convince him to let you take care of him for a few days!!

I'm sorry about your MIL; sounds like you have a couple of reasons to postpone your husband's next surgery for a few days or weeks!

Love & prayers coming your way - -

Thank you, Gloria. I have to admit though that I have been smothering some of

the

stress with food. It's only a temporary help and is adding weight that I'll have

to work

hard to get off again. I keep telling myself that turning to food is better than

some

other options, but it still isn't a good one! I'm not giving up on my weight

loss. I

rejoiced as I put on smaller clothes this morning. I'm keeping my long-term goal

in

mind. It's just the short-term goal is on hold for a little while.

Our daughter and her family (the one with the 6 year old who is going to have a

shiner) came over last night to see dh. She announced that we need to have a

stress-busting time this weekend. She suggested a cook-out. I think that's a

good

idea. Grilled food is lower in calorie than fried! :)

It is supposed to be 90 here today. It's 10:15 and already 84. I think we'll hit

that 90

and maybe go over a little. Maybe I can go out and get the pool scrubbed and

filled

and we can start swimming again. Just scrubbing it should be enough exercise to

get

a little weight off. Swimming would be a fun activity before grilling.
