IBS and pre-op medication

I've got 2 separate queries to put to the group. Firstly has anyone

else been either mis-diagnosed or diagnosed in addition with IBS-

Irritable bowel syndrome? After having my initial laparoscopy

investigation a year and a half ago, although it was confirmed that I

had a fibroid, the gyneocologist also said that the cause of my pains

was due to IBS, the symptoms of which are bloating and abdominal

pain, constipation and/ or diarrohea. A year and half later my

fibroid has grown to the size of a grapefruit and so now they have

decided to do a myo saying that the fibroid is the most likely cause

of my pains. Of course I'm very angry that all this time has been

wasted, when it could have been removed a year and a half ago and

would have stopped me suffering so much- the pains are gettting

progressively worse.

Secondly- has anyone been given pre-op medication to temporarily

block the ovaries until after the operation? If so, what was the

medication and does it stop your periods temporarily completely? If

so it hasn't worked with me as I was given an injection on 19th Dec-

I had my period at this time- and I've just started another period

today- all very strange. I'll phone the clinic urgently tomorrow

morning anyway.

I hope some of you can shed some light on my questions
