Guest guest
Thank you so much for sharing. We are so fortunate to have Kaiser. They have such good programs and education. I will keep her in prayer!cecilia wrote: I have a co-worker-great friend who had surgery a year ago in february. She has lost all her weight and is at goal. This is what I have learned by watching her. I will not eat fast food or junk food (mostly sugar) first and drink ice tea for my fluids. I will not "NOT"take my vitamins and iron becasue they taste nasty. I love my friend! SHe is now at the hospital since the day before yesterday and will be there a couple of more days due to her health. Her bllod count was at a five when they said 15 is normal. She is on her 3rd day of transfusions. They said this is a direct cause of not taking the iron pills, vitamins and eating poorly. They said you have to becasue of malabsorbtion after surgery. I have been trying to warn her for weeks now cause she was so pale and tired. She did not go through Kaiser and there were no classes ot education at all for her. I know that she is scared and will do what is required after this. I know that I will not follow her foot steps and follow directions. I hope this helps someones else as it is doing for me.cecilia
Guest guest
I was told by my Psych referal to the program way Kaiser puts you through all the pre-op stuff was because it is a tool and not just a quick fix. Sure if you are a rich person and could afford not to have health insurance, you can find anyone to do the surgery. I would much rather have all the tools and not make the mistakes after going through all of this and a surgery also. Some people never learn do they? > > I have a co-worker-great friend who had surgery a year ago in > february. She has lost all her weight and is at goal. Guest guest
It's scary (and borderline malpractice IMHO) the way some surgeons/programs do such a radical procedure seemingly on demand, with little or no education and/or follow-up support. Makes you appreciate Mama Kaiser (with all her flaws)! Uncle Timmy -224 > > I have a co-worker-great friend who had surgery a year ago in > february. She has lost all her weight and is at goal. Guest guest
Wow Cecilia, This is everyone's nightmare. At the psychiatry appointment yesterday, I was asked how I felt about my body. My response was that I try to ignore it, wouldn't you? The answer has caused me a more healthful turn-around: She said, " Some look at their body like it's a temple, or something borrowed to take good care of. " Even though I am impatient to 'have the stinking surgery, already!', you and others in the process make me see the value of such guidance toward a healthier path. And that takes time.
