Malisa, Dr Enns seems knowledgeable and is very nice to talk to. I

was a little upset with him when he told me that I needed to loose

weight. No kidding! I just looked him in the eye and asked

him " how do I do that " . I can't exercise. Just walking in the

store today has made my legs weak. He told me that I should go see

a nutritionist. I explained that I have a background in nutrition.

I didn't get into it, but I am sure the " diets " I have put myself on

are much more strict than anything a nutritionist would ever come up

with. (very low calorie diets make me extreamly ill) At one point

in my life, about 5 years ago, I didn't eat any refined foods. No

sugar, no white bread etc. My diet was low fat, high fiber and the

most nutritious that I could come up with. Whole grains, fruits and

vegetables with a small amount of meat. I ate this way for 3 years.

At this point I was even able to exercise some. I walked about 20

minutes a day. (about all I could tolerate) Guess what! I didn't

lose a single pound. I was able to hold my weight steady, but that

is all. I am not able to do that any more because I just don't have

the energy to do it. A lot of the time my husband has to cook and

he just doesn't have the cooking skills to enable him to do what I

did. We don't eat poorly just not as well as we did.

I don't know if he thinks I have Mito or not. He says that I don't

fit into any well recognized profile, but that doesn't mean I don't

have mito. My husband believes that he thinks I do. I don't know.

He didn't say anything about a study.

He did take my concerns seriously and on the whole was very kind.

After we talked for a while, he ordered more tests. So he was

listening carefully.
