Guest guest
Dear Barb: The " little people " have been visiting us for quite a while on and off. I did explain to Bob that I could not see them - only he could. One night - quite a while ago he wanted to make sure that I fed them. I have to ease Bob out of certain ideas sometimes as I don't want him to get down or depressed. He is pretty much wheelchair bound now but when I bring in the groceries he will say " I'll help " . I just say " Don't worry - I've got them all " or some such thing and then he doesn't feel bad that he is so handicapped. Lately - he has been much better and with no change in meds - I was surprised he mentioned " little people " again. Thanks for your help - It really helps when people on the list share stories and it makes me feel I am not alone in my concerns. A few others have shared with me their stories of little people and confusion and it really does ease my thinking and feeling to realize I am not alone. Guest guest
Pat, my Ralph not only saw other people he heard them too, especially in the evening. May have something to do with the weariness of the day, altho he saw fewer when his sinemet and mirapex were adjusted. He had terrible night mares sometimes. Scared me one night with a terrible scream that someone was trying to kill him. Took a while to get him to settle down and realize there was no one here but me. He often thought he heard people here talking to me. Accused me of lying. But I just eased him out of it. His stories of going to Heaven and talking to his family and friends were so real to him, I never questioned whether it was real or not. He and the Lord had a special relationship that I never doubted. So, maybe he did go when he was asleep or in the trances he often went into. Strange things happen with the mind and body and only the good Lord knows what will come next. My advice is, if you can tell him they are not real without upsetting him, then go ahead. But you sure do not want him to have one more worry about being out of his mind. My sister had Sundowners in her old age and she gave me instructions on where to sit when her little people came to visit. She was always afraid they would fall down the basement stairs or go outside and get in the street. Their special place to sit was on the couch across from her. Just love him through it. Get your rest so you do not start forgetting things and get yourself upset. Barb in Arlington. -- "Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservations."
