Not that severe! But... I certainly had some nasty ones, for a teenager. I

remember seeing my girlfriend's belly when she got pregnant. She was a

sophomore in high school and her belly was really marked. Mine looked the same

but

were mostly on my thighs and upper arms, a little on my breasts (but then,

there was not much skin to stretch! LOL) Mine were really long in some spots...

I actually watched them grow day by day.

It was a really long time ago so I don't remember how red they were. More

bright pink I think. But ... at any rate, -Beth (my pregnant girlfriend) and

myself were the only teens I knew with stretch marks when I was a girl.

After finding about EDS and being diagnosed (Hypermobile with some classical)

I think I saw a poll about stretch marks which is why I supposed it was from

the EDS when I was a kid.

By the way ... my brother got really bad stretch marks on his armpits like

the pictures ... we assumed it was because he was running hurdles and you have

an outstretched arm if you have good form... He has not been diagnosed but I

suppose his EDS is slight.

My sisters are just like that but she is " covered " from neck to knees

down her front (she has had 5 kids but still hers are not normal and

started befroe her 1st pregnancy.

Mine are mainly around my hips and thighs are don't go as

purple/burgandy (not like hers do).

We have type 3 they think but have the dental issues at about age 30

or before of type 8 (my sister has NO teeth left).

been on search engine and looked up striae/Ehlers Danlos and found

that type 8 is only one that has stretchmarks like his, from what I

can find. But type 8 has severe tooth and gum problems at an early

age. (teen years) Dylan or the family has no teeth problems. Then I

came across a link that had EDS and Cushings in the same link and his

Stretchmarks and 80% of his symptoms are under that syndrome. I was

wondering if you could look at his striae marks and tell me if yours

are any thing like these, and if so, what type are you?

> PS, the ones on his back are 5 years old, so they have turned

white, but are deep. All 5 of my boys have them on the back, all the

other boys' backs are worse, but it is the only place they have them.

My twins have then on the back really bad. they cover 18 inches

horizontal like Dylans, but are much deeper. Let me know if you

cannot get into the site.

has Dylan been on any kind of steroids in oral or creams?? i found

great pics on the dermatology atlas site with these marks attributed

to steriods, drug induced cushings, a variant of " normal " stretch

marks from growth/puberty, drug reactions,EDS, and numerous other

reasons.

here is the link to the site i was talking about above:

Thanks Debbi. I'm trying to figure out how much of this is contributing from the

EDS before we get to the Dr. They never seem to know much about EDS. I'm

guessing stretch marks are normal, but these striae marks are not. Before now,

I figured most all of you had these too. Thanks for helping me. Cindy C.

Re: Striae Marks

Not that severe! But... I certainly had some nasty ones, for a teenager.

Mine were really long in some spots...

I actually watched them grow day by day.

my brother got really bad stretch marks on his armpits like

the pictures ...

I do let her choose her own clothes.

And, we have to get her a new bathing suit for her pool therapy.

I actually saw some really cute ones at Target. Pretty cheap, which is nice!

They have the ones now that have little shorts for the bottoms.

Now, just to find a top that will cover all those marks up top!

what about the little tank topsthey have on the tankini swin suits it

is like a singlet, put this with the little shorts and maybe you will

have cute, fashionable and practical with maximum cover up for self

conscious issues. i personally these days at 32 wear boardshorts and

a rash vest with my 1 piece cat suit bathers underneath (when outside

as I do NOT want to get sunburnt. A cat suit comes up to the neck in

a round top around the neck with a zip in the back sort of like the

top opf a wetsuit with the rest a normal 1 piece swimsuit. A rash

vest is a lycra t-sirts made initially to go under wetsuits to

prevent rashes but her in OZ they are now wornn over bathers to help

prevent sunburn (this is an option for your daughter) and are pretty

hip and surfy...
