swanson spacers

Hi all,

Has anyone had any surgery to insert something called a Swanson

" spacer " (the spacer term is what my rheumatologist calls the

thing-he's not sure what Swanson actually called it). It is used in

joints, especially small finger ones. He thought it might be something

for my subluxing thumb joints. It's apparently a small piece of

flexible plastic, with two pointed ends that would be inserted into the

bone on either side of the joint.
