Guest guest
I think all of those ideas are great. I will send my letter to Barbara, NBC's Dateline and Today Show, as well as Oprah. I am initially approaching this through their websites, so there are no signatures needed. For those of you who would like to participate, I am sure that the more emails they get from Moms and Dads on Plagio, especially if they are all coming in around the same time, the more attention it will bring to their producers. I'll be happy to share my letter with you and also include website links, so they are easy for you to find. I believe that the only way to get national awareness out on Plagio is to keep trying. The more we persist, the closer we will come to getting the recognition. What is that saying... " Rome wasn't built in a day. " If these letters or emails go unanswered this year, we are still putting the word out there. Maybe in another year or 2 or 5 or 10, someone will say " Hey, I've been hearing a lot about this issue over the years. Let's cover it. " I think local awareness is a great place to start, especially if you live in a large, metropolitan area. I spent 2 months in the hospital on complete bedrest in the high-risk pregnancy unit before Ian was born (along with MANY other Moms). I know that I could go and hand those wonderful nurses who cared for me a stack of pamphlets on Plagio, and that they would give one to every single Mom that comes through that unit. The hospital also has one of the top NICU's in the nation and I am sure that I could talk to some of the nurses who cared for Ian and get them to help spread the awareness. The hospital is right outside of Washington DC in Northern VA and is very busy! I am fortunate to live in a very highly-populated area, so I am going to take complete advantage of that. I am doing some research now for current numbers and statistics, so that I can have as much accurate information as possible to include in the letters and my pamphlet. I will be happy to share what I find with the group, if anyone would like to use it for their own campaign. We're never going to get anywhere unless we keep trying. I believe persistence is key, so don't give up! Whether you live in a small town or a big, metro area there are things that you can do. I'll have those website links and my letter for you later...Ian is awake!!
