If he puts on the standard treatment of doxycycline you would be taking no

more antibiotics than a teenager would for treatment of a facial breakout.

If not you would take the chance that the possible illness would spread and

then have to take increasingly stronger doses of antibiotics until you reach

the day like me where you have to take an IV every day and worry about losing

your gallbladder. That's when you should be concerned about antibiotics.

so sorry you have to deal with this. I will try to answer some of

your questions, just hope I remember them all! LOL

False possitives are rare. All you have to do is be alive to be infected

with Lyme. Many animals carry the ticks from mice on up to dogs and cats.

Most people never see the tick and less than 25% remember a rash.

Miscarriages are common place with Lyme infection, they say that more than

75% miscarriage rate is normal. I would not advise getting pregnant again

untill you have a LLMD ( Lyme literate Dr ) and are getting very very good

treatment. Most Drs can treat lyme, but just dont do it the right way with

lots of heavy duty antibiotics. Passing lyme onto a fetus is not a good

thing. The 'eye' feeling you are having is normal, there are several cranial

nerves that get affected with lyme and can cause many problems, like your

arm and such. The face can be affected with Bells Palsey, thats when one

side of the face droops, you recover from it but they say that 'feeling'

remains. To heck with retesting get antibiotics!! Since you are already

having nerve problems you need prompt treatment. DO NOT let this dr give you

a few weeks antibiotics and send you on your merry way, you may feel better

for a bit, but if this infection goes dormant then returns later, you will

be fighting it forever. Just like most of us. Take care, hope I helped

As an adult, I never had a rash. My first rash was in Central Florida when I

was 9 years old. (1950) Lyme Disease didnt even have a name then.

I use Plavix, 25mg once a day. This has helped the pressure in my head and

made the stroke symptoms subside. Also the " tired eye " thing could be some

Bell's Palsy showing up.

Yes, there can be false positives. However, if you live in an endemic area,

it could be safely assumed that your test was indeed Positive.

Your doctor should have given you 400mg of Doxycycline for a 6 week period.

As you have already taken some doxycycline, it will be difficult to obtain a

Hi everyone I am and I have a 5 1/2 month old daughter in

need of the DOC band. We also have the " wonderful " United Health Care

insurance and also was denied. I just got my letter from them the

other day and now starting the process of appealing it. If anyone has

any tips, advice or anything that would help we really need it. I

won't be able to get her the band unless insurance can cover it and I

have no idea where to begin. I have made another appt. with her doctor

to go over everything again and also call UHC to get copies of how

they came about there decision. Thanks!!

Welcome to the group . There are many others here that also

have uhc so I'm sure they will be able to pass on some good advice.
