Hi.

Our club is wanting to get re-energized!

We are now meeting in a community room that is very large, formal and

not very cozy.

We decided to start looking for a place that is a bit more

comfortable.

I was wondering where you all met...church sunday school room, homes,

where?

Our chapter meets in a church fellowship room. It is quite large but we're fortunate to be able to use four of their large tables arranged in a box shape. That way our members are all sitting facing someone and no one has their back to another member. It helps to keep them focused and inter-acting with each other. Unfortunately we do have a problem with some of the members having their own "private" conversations and sometimes I have to bang the gavel to remind them to speak one at a time. We're weighing in 19 to 20 members a week. Jeanette elnarema wrote: Hi.Our club is wanting to get re-energized!We are now meeting in a community room that is very large, formal and not very cozy. We meet in an upscale retirement center. They have several rooms that were

available. We have one that is about the size of one and a half average-sized

living

rooms. It is " L " shaped and when we had only a few members we met in the small

portion of the room. That made it cozy. Now that we are larger (12-13 people) we

use

more of the room.

They do not charge us any usage fee. In return they ask us to use their name and

address in all our advertising. For right now, that means we list it in our

local paper's

" Community Calendar " which is a free service.

WOW !!!!! 'Upscale retirement center" !!!!! Must be really nice !!!!!!

We meet in a church's fellowship hall ~it's a small church so the hall is not real big ~ guess about the size of 2 average living rooms !!! There are a couple of long tables at one end where the officers sit facing the others who are sitting at long tables facing us. Some members do see other's backs. But the tables work well with something in front of everyone !! None of us are members of this church, but the pastor is one of our member's aunts. She told us that we do not have to pay rent ~ but we do give them $45 a month to help with their ministries. We've paid more than that before at another church. They are VERY nice and good to us !!! Yes, it's nice, but there are some down sides to it. The residents have paid big bucks to be there and they don't like seeing " strangers " in their building. I don't blame them. We are coming in when they are going to their supper and so they see us. We are very careful not to wander around or make any noise. We don't laugh loudly, sing or play music because of them, so that makes some of Melody's challenges a real challenge. We try to be as restrained and subdued as possible so that no complaints are made about us. The residents will often question us as to who we are and why we are in " their " building. I understand. They need to ask so that no terrorists get in there. Do I look like a terrorist? I hope not! Anyway... It does get a little tiring though as some of these people are very forgetful and ask us the same questions every week. Bless their hearts.

WOW! Our TOPS meetings and meeting place is soooooooo much different than yours!

We meet in a

club house in a subdivision. We are always alone in the building unless the

upstairs room is rented out for

a party or something and then it gets pretty loud with people bumping around

upstairs or during the summer

months when the pool is open.

Our meeting room is okay but the floor is usually very dirty and it's smells in

there. There is a window unit

that blows air and heat but they don't use it during the week so it's gets that

musty smell in there. We keep

our scale and meeting supplies in the closet unlocked. I'm shocked no one has

stolen them and I hate leaving

our scale in there because I know it gets messed with during the week. We are

supposed to be getting a

digital scale sometime this year and I can't wait. Our meeting room is about the

size of a normal living room.

We have two tables for the officers and chairs for the members. It's pretty

plain and ordinary and small but

we are only 15 members strong when everyone is there. It's free so we can't

complain too much.

Our meetings are very, very, very loud! LOL! We are like a family that gets

together for a family reunion

each week. We talk a lot and have a great time. It's not a social chapter at all

but we do chat a lot about our

lives, our weeks, and etc. The most important part of the meeting is the roll

call and we take our time during

ours. I think everyone in our chapter is pretty loud and we sing and dance and

laugh and scream and yell

we have a blast. Everything in the room echos as well so it seems even louder.

We all love it though!

We would NOT last at your meeting place at all Kathleen! LOL!

:)

Right now we are meeting in my living room. We have 7 people, and it's not so bad. We weigh in in my laundry room, the meetings and nice and cozy- chairs in a circle, and it works for us currently! When we get bigger we'll have to look for a bigger place, obviously... It would be nice to have a bulletin board, LOL! Joe is planning on making one up for us!
