I have an appointment with Dr Enns on the 8th of Septmeber. He is

at Stanford. This will be my first time seeing him. I have spoken

to him on the phone and he seems really nice. From the time I first

called to set up an appointment to the time I will actually be able

to see him will be a little less than 2 months. Which isn't very

bad considering all the things I had to do before I could go. Like

have all my various doctors send in my records. Along with my

grandaughter's records too. I even had a week of vaction in there

too. So I got in pretty fast. I was pleasantly surprised. So if

you are not opposed to traveling.(I know it is quite a drive) That

might be something to consider.

Hi Kathy,

If you do need to fly somewhere to see a doctor there are organizations that

will fly you for free. One of them is Miracle Flights and will pay for your

flight on a jet and the other is Angel Flight which will find volunteer

pilots to fly you in a small plane. I use Angel Flights to fly from Phila. to

Boston and it cuts a 6 hr drive down to a 1 1/2 to 2 hr flight. It really is a

wonderful organization and they pick me up from the small airport just 5 mins

from my house. If you ever need anymore info. on either of those

organizations, don't hesitate to ask.

Joanne,

It's waaaay out of my way, couldn't possibly make the drive (freeway

intolerant), however, push comes to shove, I'd fly up there (don't

do well with that either, but gotta do what I gotta do).

Thanks for the info!

Can the Angel flights handle powerchairs? I always wondered, but never

asked.

I checked and they cannot. You also have to be able to climb into the plane

with independently or with help.

They can handle some fold up wheelchairs, but not power ones, or power scooters.

In the back of the plane where the luggage goes is very small and there is also

a limit of 50lbs. total luggage weight.

Some pilots will help you get in and out of the plane.
