Guest guest
OK, the moment I feared is here...my son is in a new school and the nurse is seeking his 5 year old booster shots. We are not doing them. I did have his titers taken and he's immune. How is everyone doing with this issue? I currently intend to write a brief letter saying my son doesn't need the vaccinations due to his immunity status. Has anyone had their pediatrcian write the letter? Any tips here? Guest guest
I'm curious, , why you got the letter already? Noone suggested boosters for Ian before the age of 5 did they? Are you just that prepared for next year? :c) JoAnne amterry@... wrote: > > In a message dated 9/13/00 10:11:50 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > jblag@... writes: > > << I did have his titers taken and > he's immune. Guest guest
This depends on how complacent your school is. Submitting your child's blood test that they are already immune is not official exemption material according to the State regulations but several schools have accepted this. I am waiting to hear these parents say that the state told their school that this is no good but I haven't heard this yet. I would try this for ph as it is your easiest option. The official choices are religious or medical exemption. The medical exemption is a doctors letter that states what vaccines your child must not have, for what time period, and why and the why has to be an acceptable reason for contraindication of vaccination as set out by the AMA and the CDC. Immune disorders are acceptable. I am not familiar with the religious but I do believe it must be one of several establish/listed religions (eg. Christian Scientist) and cannot be a new religion like " Terryism " or anything like that. ) has a med exemp but it is not in the offcial format. I hope is does not get challanged. Good luck, Heidi Re: Waiver of Booster Shots > > OK, the moment I feared is here...my son is in a new school and the nurse is seeking > his 5 year old booster shots. We are not doing them. I did this as a precaution, ahead of time. I think they will start coming after us about booster shots by the end of this school year. Ian will turn 5 next June. Guest guest
The school will not accept a letter from you. It must be from your doctor saying your child is medically exempt. If your doctor won't give you this, you can give them a religious exemption letter. I had posted this awhile back, but no one acknowledged it. I wonder if anyone saw the religious exemption letter that I posted? You can inform them that you are exept from vaccines due to your religious beliefs. Cheryl
