Guest guest
Hi Laurie and , I hope your appt. with Dr. Cohen went as well as could be, and I hope that your drive there and back was pleasant. I understand that Creatine comes in both a flavored liquid and a powder ( that you mix with water, or other liquids) but does anyone know which type of Creatine is better absorbed by our Mito bodies? Is there a certain type that the Mito Docs suggest over the other? I have always used the flavored liquid. I took 5 grams a day. I have noticed that people are saying that they have gained weight from using the Creatine, but I haven't gained any weight from using the liquid, and am wondering if I would be better off using the powder? and maybe I would be lucky enough to gain some weight on it too!! thanks Hugs, Ann-Marie Re: Re: Just returned from U of M visit > > , > > Did he give you the dose amount? > > Alice > > > Laurie and I were told by Dr. C today in Cleveland that he would like us > to try the Creatine as well. Guest guest
Ann Marie We didn't discuss the liquid at all. He said to buy the powder someplace we trusted. I mentioned that I get my other supplements from Puritan's Pride. He said to go with a brand that we have had luck with before. He said that they use to advise Twin Labs, but since they can't hurt what is there, just buy it from the folks. He also said that it dissolves very quickly and has a slight sweet taste. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 24 Aug 2004 00:09:39 -0400 > To: > > Subject: Creatine Dosage/ Laurie > > Hi Laurie and , > > I hope your appt. with Dr. Cohen went as well as could be, and I hope that > your drive there and back was pleasant. > > I understand that Creatine comes in both a flavored liquid and a powder ( that > you mix with water, or other liquids) but does anyone know which type of > Creatine is better absorbed by our Mito bodies? Guest guest
Ann-Marie, I've had very good results with ATP Evolution Creatine. http://www.nutrabio.com/Products/atp.htm I've tried quite a few other creatine powders and this is the best by far for me. I am now dripping it in my j-tube at night, and that gets even better results. This product dissolves completely which a lot don't. With some it's like drinking sand in water. Guest guest
Barbara, How much of this brand to you take per day? wheatchild2 wrote: >Ann-Marie, > >I've had very good results with ATP Evolution Creatine. > http://www.nutrabio.com/Products/atp.htm > >I've tried quite a few other creatine powders and this is the best >by far for me. Guest guest
Barbara, It looks like that would be 2 tsps if I read their website correctly. I am still trying to figure out what I will try. Of course it was just yesterday we were told to try it. How long before you saw a change? Do you recall? wheatchild2 wrote: >5 grams. Guest guest
1 scoop totals 10 grams in weight. 5 grams of that is creatine monohydrate and magnesium creatine chelate. 3.5 grams is d-Ribose. There is 240 mg magnesium per scoop. All adds up to 10 grams. I saw improvement in a week to 10 days. Maybe sooner, but it was gradual which makes it harder to pinpoint. Definitely improved strength in my arms. Legs are in worse shape but I'm hoping with time they will continue to improve. I'm also taking K-Phos Neutral (rx phospherous) which together with the creatine should boost phosphcreatine in muscle as an alternate source of ATP. I don't think I would have as much benefit with creatine alone. I started them separately. Took the K-Phos Neutral for 2 months before adding in creatine. Guest guest
> > How are things going with the new neuro? > > Tks for asking. I really like him! Excellent listener, responsive face. He even laughs at my jokes, a very desirable trait in a physician. He offered right up front to read up on mitochondrial disorders and clearly had done some homework on CPT before the visit. I was SO pleased. He is also board certified in psychiatry, though he only practices neurology. But this duel training clearly gives him an interest in the whole person, not just the disease process, and he asked a lot of personal questions, wanting to know who I am. He offered to follow both the mito neuro issues and the meningioma. He wanted to do another EMG which we have already done. And he wanted to rule out myasthenia gravis since he feels my neuromuscular symptoms are very similar to that disorder. Haven't gotten the blood work back on that yet. He also called my PCP whom he knows from medical school and thinks highly of, and they had a good conversation which sparked more action from the PCP. All good signs. So now I have a team of three that are within a mile or two of my house--an excellent local surgeon who handles the j-tube issues, a neuro and PCP. Much better than the day-long trips into KC which I just can't do anymore. I am feeling very blessed! Barbara
