Hello Everyone,

In May of 2003 I was diagnosed with Fibroids, the doctor provided me with

options included the dreaded Hysterectomy, but we decided on Hysteroscopy and a

Laparoscopy which were both done in July.

After the procedure I was not the same, continual spotting and menstrual cycle

that seemed to never end. The doctor then put me on birth control, which cause

severe bleeding resulting in my iron levels dropping extremely low and I had to

have a transfusion. The doctor gave me the choice of continuing with the pill

and taking iron to see what happens or go in for surgery. Well, I opted for the

surgery.

I had a abdominal surgery to several fibroids, most of which were large on

December 15th. I am still in the recovery phase and will not be at full

capacity as per my doctor for at least another 3 weeks. I am glad I had the

surgery, I feel much better than before. My question is, should it take this

long to recover (close to 8 weeks) is it normal? Are there any websites which I

can utilize to learn more about Fibroids? I checked out WebMd and it was basic

and not very informational.

I am so glad there is a list like this that people can talk about their mutual

experiences.

Thanks for your help.
