Guest guest
Vicky, Thank you for the warm welcome to this group and also for all the information on books and websites to read. I will check them all out later on today. I really do want to get my BG's under control as soon as possible. I had mentioned that my doctor had put me on a 1500-calorie low-cholesterol diet. He did not mention anything about low-carbohydrate at all, nor did the Diabetes Educator he sent me to see, who met with me for one hour and from whom I did not get a lot of information from as far as how I should be eating. The reason he put me on a diet low in cholesteral was because when my first lab tests came back, my cholesteral was very high. He also prescribed Crestor for the high cholesteral of which I take 5 mg. a day. I can't remember right now just what the reading was on that. I did not know that I could ask him for a copy of my lab reports, but will ask him for them from now on. Thank you for letting me know that. Presently the doctor has me testing in the morning before eating breakfast and then 2 hours after my evening meal and when I start to get the shakiness feeling and record them in a log book to take in to him to go over. But I will start checking more often as you mentioned and keeping a journal of what I eat, etc. I will also check out the scale you mentioned. Again, thanks so much for all the information...I have a lot of reading to do today and I am sure I will be asking more questions later on.
