I arrived at the vet and dropped Jordan off around 8:35 a.m. I felt terrible

leaving her all alone to have surgery. She was terrified. She does not like the

vet. I know they always spoil her though. I was quoted 225.00 for the surgery.

Then I get all the before and after charges as well as pain medicine and I

wanted her teeth cleaned and nails clipped and everything. The total came out to

375.00! ! ! I know what I'll be using my income tax on! ! ! I forgot to

tell you...it took an hour to get to her vet. It usually takes 30 minutes but I

was driving in morning traffic. Now you know never gets up before noon

but I had no choice on this. I stopped to get something to drink and then headed

back out to my apartment to finish up some things. I was so hoping the movers

came. I never heard back from my roommate so I wasn't sure! Traffic wasn't too

bad going back and when I arrived at the old apartment I walked up to the door

and opened it and low and behold....everything was gone! THANK GOD! The movers

came. It took them 1 hour and 30 minutes to move all our furniture. I loaded up

my truck with some more boxes and headed to the new apartment. I had to wait at

the gate forever because we only have one gate key and *I* didn't have it. We

supervised the movers, paid them, and then I had to take my roommate to school

which is 30 minutes away in the middle of downtown traffic. I dropped him off,

found my way back, and went back to the old apartment to load up more stuff. The

movers only took the really heavy stuff. We didn't want to pay an arm and a leg.

I emptied all the rooms into the living room and made trips back and form to the

car. I am so sore and tired by this time but I had no choice. We had to be out

by midnight. Then I realized we still hadn't emptied out the patio! ARGH! I took

a load to the new apartment and unloaded. I got stuck on the elevator oh, I

don't know, 10 times in two days! The elevator works great sometimes but

sometimes it goes very slow and the door won't open. I just learned against the

wall and closed my eyes until the doors opened. I would rather get stuck in the

elevator than walk up and down three flights of stairs as tired as I was. I

decided to start upacking stuff in the apartment when my roommate calls. You see

me and Jordan aren't on the new lease yet. I didn't want to have to pay the

application fee and the pet deposit right now. The pet deposit is 500.00 and the

application fee is 45.00. The are other reasons I didn't want to be on the lease

and I was working those out before I applied. Anyway...he calls and says they

are doing apartment inspections this week. I'm like great! It's gonna be me, off

of work, and a dog that just had surgery sitting in an apartment all week and

when inspectors come in they are going to be like, " Who are you and did you pay

your pet deposit? " I'm a worrier! So I decided to go down and put an application

in. It only cost 20.00 and I am not worried about the pet deposit right now.

I'll pay it when I can. They are aware of the dog so that's cool. I was approved

and I sign the lease tomorrow. That's all taken care of for now. I went back up

and thought that maybe I could rest and relax! NOPE! I was running around the

apartment like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find the TV's, VCRs, and

cords to hook it all up. I knew I was leaving shortly and I was NOT going to

miss the new Survivor, CSI, and The OC! LOL! I get everything hooked up and

programmed and finally take off 15 minutes late to pick up my roommate. Luckily

traffic wasn't that bad so it didn't take long to get there. Then we head out to

pick up Jordan from the vet. THEN I learn that the whole freeway is shut down

because of some high speed chase and shooting so I'm like I'll take 59 S. I

couldn't find 59 S from downtown Houston so I take I10 which, of course, backed

up because 45 is shut down. After sitting in traffic I finally get to 610 and

swing around to 59 then to beltway 8 (more traffic) back to 45 which is open

going North but, yes, more traffic. FINALLY I get to Jordan's vet and pick her

up and she's limp and her eyes are barely open. She's drunk from the pain pills.

She looks terrible! Both her right paws are black and blue. There is a very

large incision down her leg and lots and lots of stitches. She has a large cone

on her head and just looks awful. I felt so bad like WHAT DID I DO TO HER? I go

to the front and try to pay the bill and she's like, " Oh....sorry....we don't

take American Express! " So....I had to write a check which I hadn't planned on

so there goes that money. I left the vet, swung by the storage, picked up some

things, and took the toll road home which, thank God had no traffic. We finally

made it home. Now, by this time, we hadn't eaten, we still had a few things to

bring over to the new apartment, and we had to clean the old apartment still AND

take care of a very " sick " dog. We made a few more trips, cleaned the best we

could, and locked up the apartment for the last time. I am so happy to be out of

that HE** hole! ! ! We got back to the apartment and ate take out and tried to

rest and relax but, of course, we had to start putting some things away so both

of us could find our beds so we could sleep. Jordan had to sleep right next to

me all night on the floor because I didn't want her falling off or me rolling

over on top of her. It felt so good to sleep in the whole next day. Oh...I

forgot to tell you...the guy in the office asked me if I had a criminal record

for the apartment. I said no. He calls me later and says is your previous zip

code 77349? I'm like no 77346. He said good because 77349 is Huntsville State

Prision and I thought you had said you weren't a criminal! OH LORD! This day

just keeps getting better and better. Yesterday was okay. I spent the whole day

taking care of Jordan, unpacking and trying to make sense of my apartment (you

never realize how much crap you have until you move) and trying to check some

e-mail because I still have 2300! ! ! ! Then I learn that yahoogroups.com turn

my e-mail off on both my accounts for the last two days. WHO KNOWS WHY! So I

didn't receive two days of mail. That urks me for sure! Plus I'm trying to set

up the TVs and VCRs again because we had to move them and then reprogram them

for other shows (I can't miss my Friday shows).

And it felt good to sleep last night but I had get up early again. I'm working

today for a lady who worked for me Wednesday so I could move. I can't wait to

get off so I can go home and finish up my unpacking. I am a clean freak and my

apartment is in chaos. All of this should have been done on Thursday but,

because the movers didn't come like they were supposed to, I'm still dealing

with it. I am sore from head to toe, very tired, and worn out. Will I move

again? Sadly....probably. Will I get movers again? Yes....but they are going to

move EVERYTHING next time. I will pack...they move! I'm too old for this! LOL!

And I just learned that our internet is down until Wednesday! ! ! ! UGH!

I hope you have enjoyed ADVENTURES IN GEORGEDOM. I am sure there are more

adventures to come!

:)
