Guest guest
Hi all, Happy Belated Bday Carla!! I don't know what I would have done without this support group leading up to my surgery!!! You are an awesome woman! I thought I would update you all. It's been 17 days since my ab myo and I am feeling great. I go back to work on the 26th. I have my own small business so Im going back slowly and only working part-time for the first week. I miss working! I have been going to the beach/out to eat/movies, etc. for the past two weeks and I feel ready to work out and do yoga energetically but I have noticed if I try to walk too fast I feel a little " pulling " and uncomfortable feeling in my abdomen. The incision is healing very nicely. It's just a thin red line about 5 " long. There is some hardness in the area and my doc said that is a reaction to the internal sutures and will slowly go away. It doesn't bother me. Underwear or a bathing suit will cover that area. I have been drinking a tea called " Iron Woman " by Traditional Medicinals. It has 7% RDA of iron and then I add a tablespoon of molasses which I believe has another 20% of iron and I am still taking my iron pills. I think I am still slighly anemic but I do not have that fatigued/groggy/irritable feeling that I had before. My formerly bloated abdominal area gets flatter every day. I have lost weight in that area and am definitely smaller than before the surgery. My doc said my uterus is now the size of an orange whereas before surgery it was the size of a 14 week pregnancy. He said I am healing very quickly and I think alot of that is the juices and foods I am eating. I also drink milk thistle tea (good for the liver), and have made dietary changes including organic veggies, lots of fish and lower sugar/alcohol consumption and I am juicing everyday. The night I got home I remember my boyfriend had rented movies. I told him no comedies as I knew I couldn't laugh but he did get a comedy of course. We started to watch it. I was hoping it wouldn't be that funny but it was a Ben Stiller movie and we both started laughing very soon into it...well I couldn't stop laughing and neither could he...I was saying to him please stop laughing and turn off the tv, he couldn't find the remote and we couldn't stop laughing...well, I also started crying with tears just coming out of my eyes because I was in so much pain from laughing. It was hurting so bad on my abdominal area...He felt bad when he saw that I had started crying and finally found the remote and we turned off that movie and put in a drama...the moral of the story is I wouldn't recommend funny movies for about 6-7 days post myo. I also had caught a slight cold and was sneezing like crazy which was painful! I am so glad to have the myo behind me and now I just want to do whatever I can do to prevent fibroids from coming back. wishing you all the best! Looking forward to meeting you SF/Bay Area Ladies at Herbivore Sunday!! Pearl
