Hello. There have been many babies who were banded at 9 months or

later and got great correction. I'm sure that others will chime in

here on that. was banded at 7mo, 1wk and wore her band for 11

weeks total. She improved from 14mm to 4mm (cranial vault asymm)in

that 11 weeks and her ear asymm went from 7mm to 1.5mm. I believe

that usually with the Hanger Band or STARband most kids just need

one. I believe that the " shelf-life " of these bands is often a little

longer than the DOC because the foam is usually thicker.

Just a question for you... I didn't realize that the Hanger in

Farmingdale was using the STARband rather than the Hanger

Band.... .does Cappa use just the STARband or did he give you an

option? just curious. Thanks.

Hi...My son had his first appt. today. We went to Hanger in NYC. The orthotist there is Brown. He was very nice with me and great with my son. He took his time and answered ALL of my questions. I felt very comfortable with him. The scanning process was very quick and easy. My son will be 9.5 mths by the time he gets his helmet. Mr. Brown told us that there is always a chance that there may be little to no correction given his age but he also said that he has had many babies who had great improvement this late in the game. We are not getting a STARband through Hanger. I have to be honest and say that seeing a helmet in person made it feel a lot less intimidating. I'm feeling better about this whole process and am looking forward to decorating his helmet!!! (i chose a light blue one).

Anyways, I wanted to say thanks again to all the mom's who have given me so many words of support and encouragement. I will keep you updated...Elana
