The number is . They say it is like nothing they have seen before. Dr. Cohen told that the bone marrow is being eaten/destroyed due to her low weight that her body is somewhat attacking itself to get the nutrition it needs. She is really upset. They are moving her to a private room today. Hopefully that will help somewhat. She is really upset that she can't come home. Dr. Cohen told her that her intestines are too damaged to digest food and said she can't eat food anymore. She has to consume Ensure/Boost 5 cans daily if she can do that and gain weight she can come home, but if she can't drink the cans by 4 p.m. tom. then they will insert a feeding tube. She really doesn't want to do that. She was told today that if they sent her home and she had 2 more bad days then she would die. We need a lot of prayers, not only but our whole family. It does sound as if she needs to have a G Tube but I don't blame her for being so upset about all this. I hope she can tolerate the Ensure/Boost therapy works. I know that Ensure was very influential in saving my mom's life when she was very, very ill and my son drinks it 3 times a day because he has such a serious problem with low weight and he cannot go a day without it but we have avoided the tube by him having this for several years. If you can please send the word to somehow that we all are here rooting for her and that if she needs the tube to survive, it's a GOOD thing. Please also tell her that in my family, I have seen the tube save a life so not to be afraid of it even though it isn't a pleasant thought. Tell her I said that we want her to fight this and that we miss her and that a lot of prayers are being sent her way for her and the family. Lot's of cyber hugs too!! We just bought 10 cases of enteral Pediasure with fiber for my sons - they drink it for breakfast. They have significant eating issues, and they love the taste of the Pediasure, even the enteral formula, which is less sweet. Note that there is another different supplemental food that works for some people - it's called Compleat, made by Novartis. I think there are both adult and pediatric varieties, but it is a nice difference as it is essentially blenderized meals, with meat, veggies, etc. Take care, RH > I am so sorry to read this news about .
