Guest guest
that I bring you the sad news that Betty Phillabaum did not make it. She fought real hard through three surgeries since her initial surgery of 11/28. She is now a WLS Sister Guardian Angel in Heaven. The memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5th at 7:00 p.m. at: Presbyterian Church 780 Fairview Drive Carlisle, OH 45005 Memorial contributions may be made to: Presbyterian Church 780 Fairview Drive Carlisle, OH 45005-3150 In dedication to Betty's memory -- I wanted to share part of a hymn that I heard while I was driving to Kettering this morning when I found out they had taken her off all machines and she would be joining the Lord very shortly. I Will Arise and Go to Jesus Come ye sinners, poor & needy Weak and wounded, sick and sore Jesus, ready , stands to save you Full of pity, love and power I will arise and go to Jesus He will embrace me in His arms In the arms of my dear Savior Oh, there are ten thousand charms. . . Betty is now carefree, painfree and at peace in her Savior's embrace. Thank you all for your prayers and participating in the candelight vigils. If you could turn your thoughts and prayers to the comfort of her loved ones, I sure would appreciate it. Thank you, Kris G

Guest guest
I am so sorry to hear this. Personally, I did not know Betty, however, at a time such as this, my thoughts and my prayers are with her family during this time of loss. I am sure that Betty is experiencing the joy and happiness of being in the presence of her Lord, for Whom she exhibited such love. Regards, Dorian P.S. In honor of Betty's memory, I would like to repost one of her very last messages on this board, it was entitled " From my heart, a message to all " , and it was written on Nov. 18th, just 10 days before her surgery. Letter to all WLS Prospects or Veterans Each one of us is special. In our Christian faith they say if you look deep enough you will find `good' in all things, no matter how bad the situation. I have always believed this in my heart but now you all have been proof of this. Persons, who have lived with this " evil " weight problem, or any handicap are `special'. These people's hearts have been refined in gold, by this I mean we seem to be so much more sensitive, understanding, of other peoples hurts because of our experience of lifetime hurts. We are now better people for it. Our hearts have been broken and remolded by God. And no matter how thin we become, we will always be the same `fat person' in our hearts full of compassion, understanding, love for others, such sensitivity that is beyond human words. Because we know we have been there experiencing every hurtful and hateful remark from thoughtless people. We have empathy, our bodies may be or had been big, but `our hearts' are even bigger. By the responses given, when one of our group's are in need, it has shown me and proven to me what I have always felt in my heart. That we are `special'; God has used this terrible burden and has refined us to be, as he wants His children to be. Because of our heartaches, hurts, and prejudices from other people condemning us for our weight. We have become a better people. Our hearts has been broken and remolded by God. And no matter how thin we become, we will always be this same `fat person' but only in our hearts, full of compassion, understanding, love for others, born from our experiencing every imaginable hurt. But these hurts has molded and filled our hearts of great love for others. You all are not just Pre or Post WLS, you are God's angels. God has understood our hurts and broken hearts and he has remolded and refined each of our hearts into a wonderful and beautiful gift, that only we who have lived in these earthly bodies can understand the cruelty of mankind that only those who are `different' has experienced. And it has made us a much better person. A gift given to us by God that we will never forget fat or thin. You all have a heart of gold and I truly believe that is why this group is so strong and we have bonded with a depth that amazes others and us. We may be strangers to one another, but we are one. Because we have all stood at the cross with Jesus, feeling the pain and hurt from others who unknowingly, are making us a stronger and better person. We have been broken and refined into a precious group of people. For God has given a wonderful gift that will always set us apart from others. We may not have had a beautiful physical body, but our spiritual body filled with love and compassion is beyond words, maybe `Christ like' is the appropriate word. And now not by chance, but through God's love for each of us He has guided us towards finding our Surgeons to finish the task He has planned for us. For we will receive the gift of a healthy and happy physical body. One that will take us from condemnation to an admiration of sorts. I love you all and have never met a group of people with such hearts of gold. A priceless gifts that we should always keep and treasure. In this way we will always be `a special group of people'. Not because of our big body, but our big hearts. This is God's measurement of life, Not the measurements of our body, but the measurements of our hearts. I guess we can also include I have been blessed with the gift to talk. Which may not always be a good trait. But I just have to let you know how I feel in my heart for all of you. You can lose your larger body but never, never, lose your big hearts!!! This group is the greatest, which is another gift I have been given, these gifts just keep coming!!!! AND THAT IS YOUR FRIENDSHIP'. " Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly " . It will only get worse until I do have major health problems and perhaps will no longer be able to walk.
