Guest guest
I am sure that if you have sleep apnea - which you seem to be describing - getting a good pumonologist who will put you back in for another sleep study - would be very beneficial as once you are on the CPAP or BiPap, you are far more rested. You are probably not getting 'Rem " sleep which could be the reason why you are so sleepy all day and crashing. I know I can't consider being without my CPAP. Have you talked to your PCP about getting you another appointment for this? I was told they only need you to actually sleep for 2 hours so if you could make yourself stay awake all day on the day of the study with no caffeine at all, you might just get those two hours you need. Alice I had a sleep study done 1 yr.ago and it was inconclusive b/c I never fell asleep that night. I was in alot of pain and I was so uncomfortable with all those wires all over me. I am sure I could benefit by using a Cpap or a BiPap. Ann-Marie
Guest guest
Alice, When I had my sleep study a couple of years ago, I didn't have any sleep apnea, but they said I only had about a total of 12 minutes REM sleep all night long. Interesting. Guest guest
HI Alice, Yes, I agree with you that it seems like I may have sleep apnea, or something like that. I am going to be working with my PCP about having another one done in the near future. This most likely is one of the reasons why I am sleeping soo much and still feel drained and in need of more sleep. I think I got myself all worked up before going in for the study and that didn't help me to fall asleep. I also wake up about 2 to 3 hours after I fall asleep. I have no idea why I do this. And sometimes I wake up every 3 hours throughout my sleep, of course it is only long enough to look at the clock and turn over... Thanks for the suggestion, I will be working on having another sleep study soon. Guest guest
Ann-Marie The waking up might be sleep apnea. When a person stops breathing or even breathes too slowly, the build up of carbon dioxide tells the brain and it triggers a startle type response to start up your breathing. It also creates a wakening. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Mon, 19 Jul 2004 22:39:42 -0400 > To: > > Subject: Re: Ann-Marie - CPAP and BiPAP > > HI Alice, > > Yes, I agree with you that it seems like I may have sleep apnea, or something > like that. Guest guest
Laurie, You might have hit it right on the head. Because when I wake up after sleeping for only a few hours, it is like I almost wake up in a panic mode. But then I calm down and fall back to sleep. I never thought I had sleep apnea b/c I don't snore, or try to catch my breath. Thanks Ann-Marie Ann-Marie - CPAP and BiPAP > > > I am sure that if you have sleep apnea - which you seem to be describing - > getting a good pumonologist who will put you back in for another sleep study - > would be very beneficial as once you are on the CPAP or BiPap, you are far > more rested. Guest guest
Do you ever wake up with a headache? That can be a sign too. Ann-Marie wrote: >Laurie, > >You might have hit it right on the head. Guest guest
Ann-Marie I have little apnea, but I only breath 2-3 times per minute so the same response is there. Of course, I do snore. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 16:01:20 -0400 > To: > > Subject: Re: Ann-Marie - CPAP and BiPAP > > Laurie, > > You might have hit it right on the head. Guest guest
I sometimes wake up in " panic mode " - often I fall out of bed onto the floor, or get up and stand up immediately before I'm awake. Never thought it could be due to sleep apnea - I've been tested and been told I have " hypoxia " - not anoxia (no oxygen) but low oxygen. It seems to happen in the middle of the night, but not in the mornings or when the alarm goes off... Take care, RH > > >Laurie, > > > >You might have hit it right on the head.
