Guest guest
Hello everybody, Was reading several days worth of messages and got a lot of info that I had been wondering about. Last week I took a bad fall twice in one day. my mom was worried about what would happen if I fell and nobody was here but here, then today I read what to do. Makes it nice. I went to the new nero today. He said he was 90% sure it was MSA, but had a couple of other test, including a sleep study, to do. He also is ruling out sjorgen syndrom to go with some form of ataxia and autonomic failure. Good luck to him. He put me on Amatadine for the ataxia. I am going to look that up next. Said he was trying this before the simenet. I was in there for an hour and had loads of " fun " as he was testing my balance and other things. He took me off the Diovan for high BP. Said that could be really bad when BP drops to much. Half the dose of Florinef, said he may go to the other one, don't remember that name. Think it is the one Fred is on now. He is doing another tilt table test, no meds for two days before hand. And an echocardiogram and some blood work. I laughed when I read about the -ologist considering he now has me going to two more of them, cardiologist and urinologist-find out if I'm " emptying " every time. That will make four for me. I too was ask what did I want-my response was similar to the person signed " Tenacity " , I think that was the name. Said I wanted a miricle(?) cure-all. He aske what was 2nd on list. I said quality, He said he would work on that part. Reading this has really helped alot today. Got depressed again over the amout of pills I take, 6 or 7 different ones everyday. I HATE taking any meds, but do it out of wanting to be as good as I can be. Almost like the army slogan. Oh well must sign out now Thanks again wanda
Guest guest
Wanda, Exercise (range of motion is better than aerobic) is the best thing to give you as much quality of life as you can get. You need to do stretching exercises every day (best in the morning) to keep the movement you already have. If your community center has a class on arthritis exercises, take it and remember the exercises. If they ask for where you hurt - tell them you need the exercises for the whole body, as they often concentrate on extremities. Making sure you get proper amounts of liquids and eat a balanced diet is also important. Adding small amounts of antioxidants may help also (like 400 IU of vitamin E per day), but beware of mega doses of supplements as they are not always balanced diets and may cause blood chemistry problems especially for MSA patients who often need large amounts of sodium. Amantadine was used for Parkinson's before Sinemet came along ) and no one knows how it helps PD. But it does help in many cases, and more MSA patients use it every day from what we see here. Hang in there, Bill and Charlotte Note: Charlotte had first signs of MSA (tired and clumsiness) in 1986 - we went back to our GP's records and that was the first time she complained about it. He admits it was probably the first sign ) even though he suggested it might be an early sign of menopause ) gave her a shot of B vitamins and did some blood work. He did ask her to come back in a few weeks and went over how she felt after the shots. lawandajbell@... wrote: > Hello everybody, > > Was reading several days worth of messages and got a lot of info that > I had been wondering about.
