Dear Group,

I am posting this message for a reason that goes well beyond the

illegal trade of Viagra. We have a member who has, in fact, imported

mifepristone from China for treating her fibroids. While we may all

understand quite empathetically why a symptomatic fibroid sufferer

might choose to go this route towards obtaining mifepristone for this

purpose, the National Uterine Fibroids Foundation does not support or

condone the illegal practice of acquiring mifepristone via sources

outside of the United States for import into the U.S. As you all

know, mifepristone is heavily regulated by the FDA and obtaining this

drug (in the U.S.) for any purpose outside of supervised abortion or a

FDA sanctioned clinical trial is currently illegal in this country.

It is important to share with all of you that ANYONE considering this

potential scheme for acquiring mifepristone should NOT discuss this

openly in this forum. Representatives from the FDA, Department of

Justice, etc. do lurk on this list group from time to time and it is

impossible for us to know whether they are doing so because of their

own fibroid condition or because they are working on a case.

I do apologize and ask you to bear with me for the harsh tone of this

" warning " email -- but, from my own personal perspective in moderating

this group, it is only fair that this information be made available to

all members who post messages online here about avenues towards

acquiring mifepristone.

Please work with us as we continue to push for the FDA sanctioned

approval of mifepristone for the treatment of uterine fibroids.

Carla Dionne

Executive Director

National Uterine Fibroids Foundation
