Guest guest
We just got back from the Mayo and Gabi was seen as needing further study. So she immediately underwent a plethora of tests including checking her heart and kidneys and still has a couple of tests to go, including checking her eyes and another one on her heart. They stated that because she had the skin tag on both of her cheeks instead of just one, they thought maybe this wasn't a unilateral issue after all??? I do know that her open canal was seen as "small" but the doctors in my hometown all told me that it wasn't unusually so. We meet with the geneticist again in January for the whole rundown of what they found. I do know that so far her kidneys look good. It's all so confusing, but if she were diagnosed with a syndrome of some sort then it certainly would answer some of the questions I have had. For example, does anyone here deal with the facial paralysis or weakness of the facial muscles??? I am wondering about what that looks like. I wonder because of all the sucking difficulties that we have had. WELCOME to Beccy and Lachie! It sounds like the doctors have given you all of the "right" tests in determining what is involved with Lachie's Microtia. I am sure that your questions will be answered here. I feel so fortunate to have this group to learn from! ...I love the updates! Keep them coming! Jane
Guest guest
Hi Jane - I was very interested in your update - how old is Gabi? I am new here and just learning everyone's names, etc. Our daughter who we are adopting from Korea has unilateral microtia and has a skin tag in front of the other ear. Her kidneys are reported to be of normal shape and size. We will start all of the tests once she gets home in a couple months (after she has time to bond with us, of course!). Camryn is five months old. Sandy Update... We just got back from the Mayo and Gabi was seen as needing further study.
