Subject: New

here...Anyone from Missouri?

My daughter is 4 months and has just been to see the

neurosurgeon, Dr.

Briggs. He is sending us to get a CAT scan and then to an

orthotist locally in Springfield,

MO. Larsen Orthotics. I

don't

know a thing about this place and don't know if anyone out there has

had dealings or heard of anyone who has had dealings with them. I

don't want to take my daughter to someone who may not know what they

are doing. I have read about the DOC helmets, but the closest clinic

to us is Dallas.

Quite a drive for us. This is all happening suddenly

for us and we are trying to make sense of it all.

I would love to hear from anyone who may be able to give us some help

or advice.

Thank you.

Hi~ We are in Kansas City, MO and have just started going to CT in Dallas, TX. We have made two trips by car...9 hrs. one way. I am thinking of flying from here on out. We will be going for check ups every 3 weeks from now on. I can't say enough great things about and who have been assisting Owen. I know there are other banding choices that are closer than TX, but our experience in KC has been very disappointing. Dallas CT has been our saving grace! Beth~MO Mom to Owen 18mo. I am also in the kansas City area. We used a Hanger facility in Independence. My daughter wore a STARband from October 2002-Jan. 2003. We were very happy with our experience. I am sorry you have had a disappointing one.

We are in KC, MO as well! We have been seeing Dr. Hiebert at St.

Luke's Hospital for our consults. We go back next month to find out

if repo is working and what the next step will be. Our son is 5 1/2

months old. I know there is another mom on here that goes to Hanger

in Overland Park. It is nice to hear where everyone is going, in

case we need to go down that road. Which doctor is following your

little one's here in KC???

I am in the KC area too. We are currently seeing Hanger in Overland Park. Thom and all the staff are wonderful. Collin has been in his helmet for three weeks and is doing great. At the two week check up, he "popped out" 4mm in the lower back and the index went from 98% to 95%. I hope that this large change is a trend and we will only have to wear the helmet for the shortest time possible. Collin is not sleeping more than one - two hours at a time and this is really taken its tole on me and our three year old. I have posted a plea for help for others here and hope that it gets better. Good luck flying with a baby and I hope that all works out with your child. Best Wishes and keep us informed on the progress. We were very fortunate and didnt have to many stares. Or maybe I just didnt pay attention. Jenna graduated in 2003. I only saw 2 other banded babies since she graduated in our area. So I guess most people around here do not know what they are for yet.
