mild plagio - decided to get the band

my 5 mo daughter has tort., mild plagio and very subtle facial

asymmetry. i had been going back and forth over whether to get the

band. i was leaning towards not getting it since i've seen some change

from all the repo and starting OT. this afternoon, we went for a

consultation with a neurologist and i decided to go ahead and get the

band. while he said her case was mild, he said that repo and therapy

would help - but probably not " fix " it completely. also, the clincher

was that he said that when our daughter is 13 and she sees and is

upset by the asymmetry in her face she might ask why we didn't do

everything we could to fix it when she was a baby. that did it for me.

we have an appointment at CT in two weeks.

i just wanted to share my experience for those out there with mild

cases and not sure what to do.

I personally think you are making the right decision. The band is

such an easy fix and then you know you did everything you could.

You may very well regret if you don't band. I doubt you will regret

banding. I have never been more sure about my decision than the day

he got his band. You just get a calmness about you when that sweet

little baby starts getting a round head. We are more than half way

through and it seems like yesterday when we were trying to decide.

Good job mommy.

That is exactly what my son's father and I thought. I wish so bad

that I had your doctor. It would be great if you could add this

doctor to our database (I think you can add doctors there but it may

just be for band providers i'm not too sure). I wish you the best

of luck.

We were told my son has a mild case as well but

because we are in Hawaii, we would have to go to the

mainland for treatment. I am torn about what to do

but the expense of traveling to get treatments kinda

scares us. So we are just doing the repositioning.

There are a couple of different charities that will fly you for free to your

appointments. You may want to look into them if the repositioning doesn't

help and if you decide to pursue treatment on the mainland.

Hi a -

I would hate to see you miss out on getting a band, should you need it, just

because the flights to the mainland are cost prohibitive. Now you can base

your decision on whether your child really needs the band and you don't have

to let the travel interfere with your decision.
