, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with all these horrible tears and

the pain that goes along with them! What are the plans for repairing all

these, or are there any? I hope for the best, least painful procedure for you.

Wish I could help you other than to offer prayers and positive thoughts, but I

do offer you those!

Hi everbody!

I haven't written much since I joined the group recently. I still

don't know for sure if I have EDS. I go to NIH this coming Thursday

for a skin biopsy with the genetics clinic. Are there any other

tests to confirm it? Also I am having surgery on Jan. 15th to repair

a ruptured bicept tendon and partially torn supraspinatous tendon in

my left shoulder. Does anyone know if a cadaver tendon transfer

would be of more benefit to me than just tacking the bicept tendon

to the bone? Also just had MRI's of both knees. The left knee has

two tears in the posterior medial meniscus and body of the meniscus,

big one's and the patella is at a lateral angle. This is the third

time my left knee has torn. The right knee has a posterior horn tear

in the medial meniscus plus a medial meniscal cyst in the same

location, second time on this knee. Does anyone else with EDS have

recurrent tears in the meniscus's in their knees and recurrent

ruptured tendons in their shoulders and additional adhesive

capsulitis. There is soooo much popping in my left shoulder.

Extremely painful.

Thanks, Sincerely,

S.

I have popping going on from time to time. I was told once by a

sports physical therapist what to do...sorry I cant remember though.

It had been going on for a while. Right now its not bothering me. I

will ask him again and get back to ya..he's my 2nd counsin down in FL.

But the tendon question I wanted to help out on a little. I dont

know the answer but here is what I was thinking. I would talk to the

doctor about the donor site. I would be a little worried about the

tendon not healing but more so about the possible damage that could

happen to the donor site. I have had two minor surgeries that

resulted in unexpected muscle tears. And one muscle that is a good

example is the uterus.

I have had ankle sprains that have bothered me much longer than

expected. Still have problems when I walk long distances and its

been over a year (dont know if its going on 2 or 3 years..time flies

you know).

Lana,

Thankyou for your response and prayers and positive thoughts. No plans for the

knees yet. I see Ortho on the 14th to discuss them, then surgery on the 15th on

my left shoulder. Thanks,

Sincerely, S.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it and will check the Ceda site. Some

days it's just too painful to type.

Dear ,

Just a note here - the skin biopsy can only confirm Vascular EDS at this

time. It also checks for a marker they think may be linked to Classical but if

it comes out negative that doesn't mean you don't have Classical. There are no

other tests - EDS is mostly dx'd by clinical observation and a history (see the

articles on the CEDA site).

Just want to make sure you are aware of this going in.

Good luck with your surgery!
