Guest guest
My son has been in a Clarrin Helmet for 5 months. His head has rounded in the back but there is still facial asymmetry. Does this resolve over time? Also, when he is placed in front of a mirror the facial asymmetry is more profound, is this common and does this appearance reduce over time? Our scheduled therapy is 5-6 months, however our cranial specialist said we could take the helmet off at anytime now that he is one and his growth has slowed down dramatically. However, the helmet still has room for him to grow into. We are struggling with the decision to continue one more month or remove it now. He is constantly pushing on the helmet and trying to pull it off. Any advice would be deeply appreciated. Thanks
Guest guest
I can't say anything to how the result are after the helmet - we are just starting. But I can speak to asymmetry. Luli has facial asymmetry - the whole left side is smaller. She has a possible hemifacial microsomia. It's a wait and see game - but I am hoping that the helmet will help shift things. It will be more pronounced in a mirror. Do you see a cranio-facial team? They may be able to help you better w/ a diagnosis and prognosis. Keep us updated!!!!! Jen Mommy to 4...and 1 more!!!! Guest guest
Our ortho told us that the helmet will help somewhat with the facial asymmetry but the key is getting the tort resolved. Apparently torticollis affects the facial asymmetry more than the plagio. Guest guest
Thanks... The doctors say his tort is completely resolved finally. I am just not aware if the asymmetry will get better with time now that it is 100% resolved."Foley, Molly" <mafoley@...> wrote: Our ortho told us that the helmet will help somewhat with the facial asymmetry but the key is getting the tort resolved.
