Guest guest
Hi Gang, Well I'm all rested up now and returning to normal. My ear is doing fine and I will be posting some pictures very soon. I did have one question that I e-mailed to Dr.Eppley concerning wearing earrings (so trivial huh?), I have my ears pierced and use to wear earrings before surgery and I'm now hoping that there is enough lobe left on my right ear(it's so hard to tell with all the stitches right now) to continue wearing them. I guess I shouldn't be so picky...after all no matter what I am better off then I was before. Anyway, so far there has been no pain...just some pulling due to the stitches. But so far I am back to my normal routine and even thinking about getting a new hair do this week! I guess you could say I'm glad I went through all this and I actually feel so much different now then I did! My husband and I went to the mall yesterday to do some Christmas shopping and even though my ear looks kind of messy right now, I wasn't worried about the wind blowing or my ear showing. I really felt so much better then ever before about being out in a crowd. Anyway...thanks for letting me ramble on... I am sorry but I was just in a talkative mood this morning. Thanks A Bunch to All of You..... Patton
Guest guest
linda - your letter really brought tears to my eyes...I can only imagine how you felt - I suppose that when you commented how you felt about the wind blowing, I thought of my own daughter being able to experience that too one day! I do not recall which State you are from, but the picture that pops into my mind is one of you standing at the end of a Pier, with the wind blowing in your face, and blowing your hair! I suppose it could also be a picture of you standing at the end of the ship like Kate Winslet in the Titanic!!!!!!!!! Well done on all your perserverence, strength and determination! You make me realise that if we want something enough - our dreams can surely come true!!!!! Love xxx Sunday Update Hi Gang, Well I'm all rested up now and returning to normal. Guest guest
, Just think, this time last year, who would have thought you'd be considering earrings for both your ears!? How wonderful! Congratulations for the courage you've maintained, the success you've achieved, and the inner strength and boldness you have to turn a dream into a reality! God bless you and Merry Christmas to all! Guest guest
<< Like I told my daughter yesterday...I was a tiny bit depressed because my little " nubbin " was gone and I had lived with that for 40 years!!! >> I often wonder how I will feel when it comes time for Braydens ear to be repaired. I think it will be bittersweet for that reason. I'm growing attached to his little ear. One of my favorite places to kiss. I think you should go out right now and buy a nice pair of clip on ear rings for Christmas. There are some very nice ones. Merry Christmas to all Autumn

Guest guest
Thanks Lynne, Plus thanks to all of you for being here for me. I am excited of course..but yesterday I did get a little down. I had written Dr.Eppley asking him if I could still wear earrings (I had my ears pierced ..yes even my microtic ear was pierced). Well, he wrote back to say that piercing the ear wasn't advisable. He had to cut the original lobe where I had pierced it once before and it had split(I had accidentally pulled the earring out and split the lobe) so that doesn't leave alot of lobe to try to pierce. He did say clip on earrings were fine. So, I was a little depressed (I have a jewelery box full of earrings ...thank goodness my daughters have pierced ears). But, after thinking about it I realized that was a small price to pay...besides I never wear earrings except when I dress up any way! It has taken me a while to get use to my ear.... it really looks fairly good ...except like I said before for the small ear lobe. But, I think you could say I am satisfied now... like I said at least when the wind blows there's an ear there!!! I'm glad I made the decision to get reconstruction and I think as time goes by I will get use to actually having an ear there. Like I told my daughter yesterday...I was a tiny bit depressed because my little " nubbin " was gone and I had lived with that for 40 years!!! Anyway, thanks once again to all of you for being here for me and I hope I can return the favor to each and every one of you!!! Patton P.S. I will be posting pictures I took yesterday on my web page. Guest guest
Thanks so much Jack..... you and all the others on this list have gave me the courage and strength to pull through all of this and for that I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart... Guest guest
Oh, how frustrating, , that you won't be able to use pierced earrings any more! But clip-ons should do the trick, too... I have had pierced ears (both ears are severely microtic) since college days and I think it helps to add a bit of " normalcy " to my appearance... but before the piercing, I did wear clip-ons and they also add to that sense of normalcy, too.... since you've had the surgery now and have a brand-new ear that you won't be embarrassed about people seeing, the clip-ons should do just fine! I am really excited for you and so glad that your surgery has been successful! I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of your new ear! --Connie
Guest guest
This is so exciting!!! I am so happy for you. I owned a styling salon for 22 years (yes, I'm on my 2nd career) and I would give you a free makeover if you came to Iowa. New hair do's and earrings are important to women. I can't wait to see your pictures. Enjoy your new ear and show it off to everyone - including us! Love. A > >
Guest guest
Hey A., Thanks for the offer...who knows maybe some summer I'll make it to Iowa and I just might take you up on that offer. I am feeling so good now and I really do have a whole new outlook it's really amazing. I never realized how much of an impact this would have on me. I figured I had kept my ear covered before so getting the reconstructive surgery would not make a huge difference in me, but I have been wrong....I really like the new me and how I feel !!!! Rest assured you will be seeing updated pictures for awhile...LOL... I just hope you all don't get sick of me! Thanks Alot, P. -- Re: Sunday Update This is so exciting!!! I am so happy for you. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks so much ...wish I lived near you right now! I was supposed to get my hair cut today (I had the appointment scheduled for two months). Well, when I got to the salon the owner said the girl I had the appointment with had quit!!! Great....now it's impossible to find an opening anywhere right now...everyone is booked up before Christmas! Anyway, glad I won't be driving you crazy with updated pictures!
