Guest guest
Jim & , Thanks for sharing this. For the last several months, I've had problems with swallowing. Can choke on water, darn it. Thank you, , will try your advise with tucking the chin & waiting a few seconds to swallow thin liquids. Thanks for being so helpful ! Guest guest
A few more tips that my speech pathologist gave me to help you not to choke on fluids is try and only drink cold or hot drinks. Room temp liquid will make you choke as they splatter when they go down whereas cold and hot liquids go straight down. Never drink water from the tap standing up as we all tend to tilt our heads back when doing so and hence the choking. Sit down and drink. Using a straw will help also. And the biggest tip that my speech pathologist gave me to stop choking when you feel one coming on is to get in a big swallow before the choking takes hold and keep swallowing until you feel ok again. I have never had a choking fit since she told me this over 1.5 years ago. Maureen in Australia > > Jim & , > Thanks for sharing this. For the last several months, I've had problems > with swallowing.
