It grieves me to see that Mattie has passed away, I do know and am thankful

that he is no longer suffering but as Alice said- his mother is left behind in

the grief and pain that mitochondrial disease has placed upon her and all her

children who have passed away. I wish there was some way we all could do

something for her. As Alice also said, this makes me want to strive more to help

find a cure for mito- I've been thinking about going into the medical field and

work with mito patients and/or research somehow but just dont know how. This

and everyone in this group and how mito has affected us all has made me want to

go for it even more and I plan to somehow. Anyways, I will be watching Larry

King tonite, hope you all do too. Praying for Matties and everyone else's

family.

take care,

Adrienne

I know that this is very sad news today. Mattie, even at his very

young age, was our leader. He made us all very proud. He opened

many eyes to this disease and did it with courage, honor and

dignity. There was so much life in his disease ridden body.

His many poems and media interviews will always remain in our

minds. He is at rest now and his suffering is over but his Mom is

left behind and her pain must be nearly impossible to bear. My

thoughts and prayers go out to her today.

Today is a very sad day for the MDA and for victims of Mitochondrial

Disease. It strengthens my convictions to do even more to fight

this disease and do everything I can to help find a cure. To much

of my posterity depends on this.
