Guest guest
Don't know if you have seen my other posts about my mom and her quitting smoking, she and I both like to play poker online, she has the hardest time when she is playing, because for the longest time she has smoked while playing, like you this is one of her hardest times to try and stop. I used to smoke cigars, I would go out for my walks or my swim at the gym, come home take my shower and then go sit out front on my rocking chair and have a cigar......Not that I ever got physically addicted to the cigars, I don't inhale......But the act of doing that and the relaxation I got from just sitting out there, I miss that.......I still sit out there, but Its like Im missing something......Its just not the same....I know how you feel..... Guest guest
" I don't inhale... " - That sounds like a familiar line once spoke by President Clinton in response to smoking marijuana. I've never smoked anything, so please enlighten me on how not inhaling has less of an effect. Guest guest
Oh that is what I pray will happen, would be lovely to go shopping again, even Walmart sounds great...a super walmart sounds like heaven lol Misty -- Re: Pre-Opers Question........ Misty, I had the same problem with my left leg going numb in the thigh area.......I talked to my doctor who I was also seeing for a back injury. Way before surgery he told me there is a nerve that runs down the front of your hip bone.....When people get really heavy, and they have that flap of belly skin that folds over that it can pinch that nerve on the front of the hip bone. Mine was doing that, my leg would go numb after just a little bit of time on my feet. I was in really bad shape........But after the weight that I have taken off, I no longer have that pain/numbness anymore......As you lose your belly fat that should go away.....Also my back has gotten ALLOT better. I have a herniated disc...... Guest guest
Losing weight consistently, since I've never been able to before it drives me crazy that I have to lose weight to have the surgery. And of course the mental thing. Guest guest
Right now I am so frustrated with the insurance company. When I called them last summer, all they said was to have " periodic " visits with my PCP about weight loss. In August I found out that it is actually 10 monthly visits in a 12 month period and that there are very specific things to document at the visit. As a result, my PCP didn't document 2 visits properly so they didn't count. I thought August was my one year, but then I didn't have 10 visits. November 1st will be my 10th visit, so I was hoping for surgery shortly after that. Today the surgeon's office told me that the insurance company is saying 11 visits. I called the insurance company and they said 10. Now I don't know what is going on. I was hoping for November because December will be much less convenient as I drive to visit my mom in Dallas at Christmas, but I'll do whatever it takes to get this done. in MI > > For those of you that are pre-op, what are the hurdles your trying to > get over currently? > > Mike T >
Guest guest
Just think of what can happen if you don't have the surgery tho! :-) W 380/293/160 Misty wrote: > For me its the fear of major complications, plus I love my Coca-Cola lol. Guest guest
Okay, I am way behind reading these messages but I like this question. I went to my initial consult with my doc on 9/14 and to my PCP on 9/20 for bloodwork and referral letter. Last week, I had my psych eval on 10/11 and my upper GI on 10/13. Those results were both faxed to my surgeon's office today. I have an appointment to meet with the nutritionist on 10/24 and that will be my last appointment before my surgeon submits to the insurance company. My insurance does cover the bypass as long as I qualify and submit all the proper documentation. I'm praying that part goes quickly since I have all the documentation and my surgeon's office is used to working with my insurance carrier. My hurdle right now is not gaining weight. My doc didn't tell me I had to lose any amount, but said that I couldn't gain any. I don't have a scale that I can weigh on, but I have been watching what I eat and don't see any way I could have gained. When i go to the nut on the 24th, I'll be able to weigh. I've got my fingers crossed that I haven't gained and I'll be able to go forward from there. Tonya 457/427/?/
