Guest guest
I'm with Dawn on this one, I want to see what Proof you have that says that Methadone is not supposed to be used for Pain Control??? My Doctor, who IS a Pain Doctor AND A RSD Specialist.....He goes out to Philadelphia 3 times a year to talk to Dr. Schwartzman and get up to date on new procedures, treatments and medications, warnings and etc..... So, I KNOW that my doctor knows what he is doing! And, Methadone IS the BEST Pain Medication there is for Nervous System Pain. It is NOT just for weaning off Drugs. Tonia -------Original Message------- Rhonda, Sorry, but I have a real hard time believing what your doctor says about methadone. I have never had better results than with the methadone! I do not get high at all, and can function much better, and also have been increased three times on it! My phamacist also told me that it is very common now for use with chronic pain and has very good results! My mother has told my doctor and even today told another friend of ours that suffers from MS that I do extremely well on the methadone and it does not play with my mind and attitude like all the other pain meds did! Just so you know I have been on oxy, vicaden, percocets, hydrocodene, codene #3, and the pain patches, and also have had pain injections in the ER, and also morpine IV. Everyone has either made me a complete loopy mess or did nothing at all for me!!! Methadone has been wonderful and all my other meds including blood pressure are working just fine!!! My pharmacist told me not to tell anyone that I am taking it, because druggies love it, but also told me it is great for pain and is becoming very popular for patients with chronic pain, because it helps much better!! I do not mean to sound nasty, but I really do not believe what your pharmacist or doctor say and I think they need to get some more info, because I have an incredible pain doc and neurologist!!! They both come very high rated and both teach!! Once again I am very sorry, but just do not believe that at all. Please send me documentation if you have it, I would like to know more if what you say has been proven!!! LOL and Best Wishes to You! Guest guest
Tonia, Could you send me the telephone number of your DR. My doctor is trying to find someone that could help me. I have told him that there is not much more then I can take. They have me on the Duragesic patch and he just upped it to 75 ml. It seems that after about 20 days sometimes less, that my foot and legs just get use to the medicine and the pain just over rides the medicine. So I told him then just take my foot so that some of the pain would stop. None of the doctors want to help me as soon as they here I have RSD. Or the pretend that they can help and then they can't take my bad pain days. They tell me that I have a personality disorder. Or that I should think about some in-house treatment centers for my mood swings. But don't want to take claim for their part in me being in so much pain cause they can't help, or they tell me one thing and then change it. So if you could send me the information I could give to my doctor on Monday and he can call and see what he can do. Thank you Sheri -- Re: Re: Methadone I'm with Dawn on this one, I want to see what Proof you have that says that Methadone is not supposed to be used for Pain Control??? Guest guest
Wow! Tonia, It has been 10 years ago that I got RSD. The only thing that helped me separate the myths from reality was finding info from Dr. Schwartzman! You are so lucky to have that connection!! I was thinking about him today because in the 90's I bought several video tapes of the convention with info on the research at that time. Now that I am having a recurrence after several years of being pain free I see that some things are the same but thankfully there is important work being done to try to beat this thing. Congratulations on the new TENS type stimulator. Love to hear more from you.
