Guest guest
.... he immediately jumped into talking about botox. He is a fairly flippant kind of guy. He minimizes most everything so there was not a very good discussion about it.. just how his partners are booked up giving them and that I should get them from another doc in town. ---------------------- Red Flag! Red Flag! Red Flag! (1) Botox is a derivative of curare (the poison that some South American Indians use on their blow gun darts to kill small birds and animals). I will concede that used in small doses it does have certain beneficial medical effects and can be used safely. HOWEVER - that does not change the fact that it is derived from an extremely toxic poison. Some people can and do get very nasty adverse reactions to it. My personal opinion is that its use should be reserved for those cases where other treatment options have failed. It should not be used as the front line tool just because it is quick and easy to administer for a temporary fix. (2) Barb just completed her paper on Doctor-Patient communications. If any topic deserves adequate communication between doctor and patient, I would submit that a procedure like this has to qualify. (3) His partners are booked up giving them because it is an extremely profitable procedure for doctors. I don't know what they charge for trigger point work, but the going rate for wrinkles was between $500 and $1500 per injection the last time I checked on it.
