Failed my physical

Hi Friends,

For a first time I really failed my physical. My blood pressure is 185/115.

I am now officially diabetic though I guess not too badly. The doctor wants

to put me on cholesterol medication but is going to wait while I work at

trying to get my weight down. I am being treated for Glaucoma. My cpap

pressure has been increased from 10 to 12. I have to use my old scooter to

get to my garden to play in the dirt around my flowers, and my chair

everywhere else I go. At least I can walk a little in the house and am

thankful that. And really truly I am thankful for my husband who makes my

life so easy and helps me maintain my independence even if it means using

the " tools of the trade " . I know in terms of what some of you are dealing

with, these are petty problems.

Has anyone had problems with taking Actos, which the doctor has prescribed

for increasing the effectiveness of my natural insulin?

Thanks, Ruth

Ruth,

I'm sorry to read this. You forgot deaf. You really have to get that BP down.

I hope they gave you a script for that.

Darn.. you sound too much like me. I just can't get better. I almost passed

out in the back yard a little while ago. When I came in, I took my BS. It was

62 and I'm not taking any meds for diabetes. It was very hard to fix something

to eat.

Why are we falling apart?

I am so sorry to hear of the problems you are having. You and Alice need to

stop trying to outdo each other. :-)

Have they tried you on a combination of drugs for the blood pressure. I have

to take a beta blocker for my heart issues, but can't take a water pill

because of my kidney problems, so the nephologist put me on Accupril with

the Tenormin and the combination has been great for me. I am able to take a

low dose of each which is better than a larger dose of either one. Just a

thought.

Ruth,

I am sorry to hear that things are going so roughly right now for you.

I hope that the docs suggested changes bring you some help and comfort.

Do you think some duct tape would help?

Duct tape sounds like a wonderful idea! It works well for other fixes!

Do you know that there is a scholarship available for $1500.00 towards

college if a high school senior and her date make outfits totally out of

duct tape and wear them to the prom?
