Hi

I have decided that it should be a pre-regusite to have an engineering

degree before getting adapted van and wheelchair. My chair is not working at

all now. I turned on this morning to see if the charging gauge had a code

showing. Of course, it worked just fine. I got it out of the van and had

trouble with it for awhile. Then it worked fine until noon and it is like it

was last night. I have an appointment to have it looked at next Wednesday

.. I had to sit in the closet of my office today in the heat. We were under a

tornado warning and one was spotted not far from school. It wouldn't have

been too bad if it had a light and I could have read. It might have kept me

from thinking about how hot I was.

I then had to go for an echocardiogram.

Fun day!!

Laurie,

I am so sorry all of this is happening to you right now. You

have had your share of bad luck and it is time that it changes! How did

the echocardiogram go? I am keeping you in my thoughts.

Smiles,

I won't have any results of the echo for who knows how long. My

pulmonologist will get the results in a few days. I am suppose to get a copy

of the report. It took an hour so I am thinking it was very complete.

How are you doing? I think of you often.

The tornado never came near the school, but I heard there were a couple of

touch downs in the county. I guess there are about 4000 people without power

- again. They hadn't even gotten everything fixed from the last storm. The

school I am at is in a small town and the traffic light in the center of

town is still not working.

Thanks for your caring.

Laurie,

You need to come stay with me in peaceful New Mexico. Now I'll share a funny

story here. You all know I have a hearing assistance dog named Stella. One

night last week, we had a very strong wind storm come up (those are about the

only storms we get in NM) with winds clocked in the mid 60's. I had gone to bed

with my Swamp Cooler on (this is what is used out here to cool most homes and it

is a system that uses water thru tubes which are circulated with a high pressure

fan and they really do a great job). Evidently, the winds were just blowing the

right way and they had tipped the tubes so that the water was coming into the

house. Stella jumped on my bed to wake me in the night and at first I was mad

with her but then I realized she was signalling me that something was wrong. I

got up and didn't turn on the lights and of course, I could not hear the wind.

I walked down my hall - the swamp cooler is in the hall. When I got under it, I

got a lovely shower which certainly woke me up. I shut it right off and yes..

Stella did a good job to tell me about this.

Laurie, I don't know what to say about all the difficulties you have been faced

with. It's certainly time for things to straighten out there. I hope you have

seen the end of these events and will be enjoying both the new chair and the new

van with no tornadoes to threaten you. Yikes!

Thanks for the story. I can visualize it now. Stella is a good girl.

I am thinking positive thoughts. As long as I can get my chair into my van

(which is at school) tomorrow, I think vacation will set things right. I

figure that when I have more time, things will work out fine.
